I talk to a lot of entrepreneurs like you who have big hearts and want to help people feel better in their lives. This free guide is going to show you how to create a tangible, profitable business guided by the emotional outcomes you want people to feel. This guide will show you how to make your desire to change the world put money in the bank. Vagueness around how money is actually generated in your business is one of the fastest and most common ways to thwart your progress and profits. Lack of clarity is like an epidemic with the women I talk to who want to grow their businesses. And the great news is that when you get clarity, you don t have to work nearly as hard to get the same or even better results! Ready to dive in? Let s go! STEP ONE: WHAT S YOUR DESIRE? Every business needs to have at its center the purpose to make people s lives better if it s going to be sustainable. You ve already got that going in spades. Now it s time to write it down. The act of getting enough clarity to put your vision into words is incredibly powerful. Please do not skip over this critical step. Answer the following questions in as much detail as you can. Don t edit yourself. Don t judge. Just write what you feel. What are the principles, philosophies, beliefs, and values that you want your business to stand for? How do you want your clients and customers to feel as a result of using your products and services? What kind of results would you like to see your customers get by using your products and services? (Please be as specific as possible.) What kind of world would you like to see for your children and your children s children? 2 BUSINESS CLARITY (AND CASH) CREATION ASSESSMENT 2017 KATE NORTHRUP KATENORTHRUP.COM
STEP TWO: WHAT S YOUR JOURNEY BEEN? When your business centers around helping people feel a certain way, it s usually because you ve had a series of life experiences that have helped YOU get that kind of positive result in your own life. So now it s time to get clear on how you ve gotten where you are, so you can begin to codify your journey and turn it into a curriculum, process, or product. Answer the questions below, and be as specific as possible - remember not to edit yourself. When you give yourself permission to write down anything, often the best stuff comes right after the thing you would have judged as dumb. How did your life and emotional state used to look? How does it look now? What helped you make this change? List out all of the courses you ve taken, the books that have made a big difference, the certifications you ve gotten, the retreats you ve been on, the workshops you ve attended, the coaching you ve received, and anything else that s been a key milestone in your healing journey. You don t have to put down everything, just the things that made the biggest impact. 3 BUSINESS CLARITY (AND CASH) CREATION ASSESSMENT 2017 KATE NORTHRUP KATENORTHRUP.COM
What steps did you take? Be as specific as possible here. This is where the vagueness is going to want to take over. Don t let it! Let clarity be your queen! Instead of saying, I learned to love myself, really think about and write out exactly how you learned to love yourself. What behavioral shifts did you make? What practices did you begin? What did you start doing? What did you stop doing? What beliefs did you let go of and how did that change your actions? Now, look at the list of materials that contributed to your shift as well as the steps you took. Combine them so that you have a series of steps that you could teach someone else that are specific. When I say specific, I mean that it s something someone could paint a picture of themselves doing if you described it to them. Now you have your process or curriculum! Yay! This is gold because if you followed these steps to get where you are, so can someone else! 4 BUSINESS CLARITY (AND CASH) CREATION ASSESSMENT 2017 KATE NORTHRUP KATENORTHRUP.COM
STEP THREE: TAPPING INTO YOUR GIFTS Next we re going to get clarity on what your secret sauce is that s totally unique and that no one else has the ability to compete with or steal. What do you love to do? What do people thank you for? What do people ask you for advice about or help on over and over again? (Pro-tip: if you re having trouble answering, put this ask out on Social Media - post the following and see what responses you get - When you need help, what kind of dilemma makes you seek me out for insight or advice?) 5 BUSINESS CLARITY (AND CASH) CREATION ASSESSMENT 2017 KATE NORTHRUP KATENORTHRUP.COM
STEP FOUR: SOLVING PROBLEMS Any sustainable business solves problems. Let s get clear on what problem(s) your business solves. What are the key problems that you know your customers have that they are also aware that they have? For example, you might know that your ideal customer doesn t love herself enough. But she s not aware that this is a problem. She thinks her problem is that all of the good guys are taken. Do you see the difference here? The only way to build a profitable business that helps people is to solve problems that people are actually aware that they have. (And you can do it through helping them solve the problems they aren t aware they have, but you have to start by communicating with them about solving the problems they know they have first.) How can you help them solve those problems? Brainstorm here! Write any idea that comes to you down. Now it s time to get really grounded in the how you re going to deliver this life-changing content to people. 6 BUSINESS CLARITY (AND CASH) CREATION ASSESSMENT 2017 KATE NORTHRUP KATENORTHRUP.COM
STEP FIVE: MAKING IT REAL In order for your business to be sustainable and profitable with minimal stress, you re going to need systems and structure. Those of us who are service-oriented, vision-driven, and big-hearted sometimes have trouble with systems and structure. Your systems and structure are what s known as your Business Model. What this really means is how your customers access your product or service and how money ends up in your bank account. We re getting really grounded here. Because the more clarity you have, the more profitable you ll be and the less stress you ll have! To get your juices flowing, here are a bunch of examples of products/services that you can use to package your content and deliver it to your customers. Mark with a star the one(s) that appeal to you and feel like they d be a fit for your style and your content. What other ideas, if any, for product delivery did you get as you read through this list? Now, it s time to take action. Which product or service will you deliver first? Write it down below. Start with the low-hanging fruit. This is the thing that you can get the biggest results from the quickest and with the least amount of effort. You could gather a group of girlfriends in someone s living room for your first workshop, take donations in exchange, and then offer free discovery calls to learn more about your one-on-one coaching practice, for example. That s low-hanging fruit. You could email your network and tell them about your new webinar-based course. Whatever you do, do the thing that you can take action on the quickest without needing to do a lot of other things first. 8 BUSINESS CLARITY (AND CASH) CREATION ASSESSMENT 2017 KATE NORTHRUP KATENORTHRUP.COM
What s the first, most obvious next action step you need to do in order to get going on creating and delivering this specific product or service? Write it down below and schedule it in your calendar. Don t write down something like set up workshop because that s an entire project. Instead, write down something like call Jeannine to see if I can host my first workshop in her living room. If you put down an action step that is actually a project made of many steps, your mind will slip into overwhelm. If you write down a finite action step, however, it will immediately feel more possible and you ll have the energy to actually do it. CONGRATULATIONS! You are on your way to becoming a Queen of Clarity! You ll find that as you begin to communicate with clarity about what it is that you offer, the results your clients can expect, and the problems you solve, your business will get traction. You ll get way bigger results with way less effort, and your business will soar! 9 BUSINESS CLARITY (AND CASH) CREATION ASSESSMENT 2017 KATE NORTHRUP KATENORTHRUP.COM
