This system can also locate the place of the accident so that the medical services can be directed immediately towards it. A newly developed sensor technology called the MEMS Accelerometer is used in this project to detect an accident. It is a device which can detect a tilt or a sudden jerk in any of the 3 axis(x,y,z). A keying system is used to confirm the damages due to the accident. GPS system is deployed to locate the place of the accident and GSM technology is used to send messages to emergency services and family. If the medical services get an alert through GSM message about an accident and its location through GPS coordinates they can reach there immediately. I.INTRODUCTION Now a day s accidents have become a major public problem in many countries and in metropolitan cities.this problem is due to rider's poor behaviors such as speed driving, drunk driving, riding with no helmet protection, riding without sufficient sleep, etc.therefore, several research groups and major motorcycle manufacturers including Honda have developed safety devices to protect riders from accidental injuries. Presently, tracking system is only installed in some high-end motorcycles because these systems are still too expensive for most motorcycle's riders. Thus, fall detection and accident alarm system for two wheelers has recently gained attention because these systems are expected to save peoples life by helping riders to get medical treatment on time. In this case, wireless black box using MEMS accelerometer and GPS tracking system is developed for accidental monitoring. If any accident occurs, this wireless device will send a message from mobile phone and indicating the position of vehicle by tracking the location through GPS system to family member, emergency medical service and nearest hospital so that they can provide ambulance and prepare treatment for the patients. II.LITERATURE SURVEY Wireless Black Box Report for Tracking of Accidental Monitoring In Vehicles [1], The system wireless black box using MEMS accelerometer and GPS tracking has been developed for motorcycle accidental monitoring. The system can detect the type of 124

accident (linear and nonlinear fall) from accelerometer signal using threshold algorithm, posture after crashing of motorcycle and GPS ground speed. After accident is detected, short alarm massage data (alarm massage and position of accident) will be sent via GSM network. Sensors (CO, Temperature and ultrasonic) work accordingly and gives the respective output. If the temperature increases than the threshold level the motor stops automatically. Similarly whenever the CO gas level exceeds the threshold limit then the motor of the vehicle is stopped. The ultrasonic sensor detects the obstacle and slowdowns the vehicle according to the distance between the vehicles and if necessary it stops the vehicle. Development of Wireless Black Box Using MEMS Technology for Accident Prevention [2], The proposed system successfully exhibits itself the vision of preventing accidents. The paper is concluding that an implementation of a system designed with multiple functionality such as Ultrasonic sensor, Accelerometer, Zone detection system, Eye Blink Sensor, Location estimation and SMS service for emergency situation. This system is designed as prototype black box function for logging the status of accelerometer which is used in future for investigation purpose when met with an accident. This designed system is not only use for logging of data but also used for prevention of various accident causes such as drowsiness, rash driving, unknown of obstacle ahead and zone identification for speed reduction. The various sensor implemented in the system will avoid all the causes mentioned above so as to avoid accident occur and save the life of the human. With the help of GPS we will be able to get the information about latitude and the longitude of the location where accident has taken place but we won t be able to find the exact location name. For that we require Google map and also satellite links. If a speed of a vehicle is increased, the message will be sent to the server system. It gets updated and penalty will be charged to the driver. The state of the vehicle should be indicated in case of abnormal driving. For example the particular health state of the driver should be displayed. Design and Implementation of GSM and GPS Based Vehicle Accident Detection System [3], In this Project, wireless black box using MEMS accelerometer and GPS tracking system is developed for accidental monitoring. The method consists of cooperative components of an accelerometer, GPS device, microcontroller unit and GSM module. In the occurrence of accident, this wireless device will send mobile phone short massage indicating the position of vehicle by GPS system to family member, emergency medical service (EMS) and nearest hospital. The threshold algorithm and the speed of motorcycle are used to determine fall or accident in real-time. The method is compact and easy to install under rider place. An accelerometer can be used in a car alarm application. Dangerous driving can be noticed with an accelerometer. It can be used as crash recorder of the vehicle movements before, during and after a crash. Among signals from an accelerometer, a severe accident can be recognized. In second application on an uncertain situation many of vehicle that has center locking system, Such as door looking system face many problem due to automatic looking system. At that situation there is no way to open the lock. Our project will present a suitable solution for this situation. This can be completed by using wireless or GSM Technology. GPS and GSM Based Accident Monitoring System [4], This paper presents how to reduce the number of accidents which are increasing day by day. Recently technological and population development, the usage of vehicles are rapidly increasing and at the same time the occurrence accident is also increased. Hence, the value of human life is ignored. No one can prevent the accident, but can save their life by expediting the ambulance to the hospital in time. A new vivid scheme called Intelligent Transportation System (ITS) is introduced. The objective of this scheme is to minimize the delay caused by traffic congestion and to provide the smooth flow of emergency vehicles. The concept of this scheme is to green the traffic signal in the path of ambulance automatically with the help of RF 125

module. So that the ambulance can reach the spot in time and human life can be saved and the accident location is identified sends the accident location immediately to the main server. The main server finds the nearest ambulance to the accident zone and sends the exact accident location to the emergency vehicle. The control unit monitors the ambulance and provides the shortest path to the ambulance at the same time it controls the traffic light according to the ambulance location and thus arriving at the hospital safely. This scheme is fully automated, thus it locates the accident spot accurately, controls the traffic lights, provide the shortest path to reach the location and to the hospital in time. The intelligent traffic light controller that was introduced saves the waiting time and avoids the traffic load. With an embedded sensor network technology, the congestion road is detected and managed accordingly with controllers. Alarm device predict the accident vehicle using the algorithm developed. The acceleration sensors and angle sensors module provide the necessary data to the controller. The area of accident is detected using detection algorithm built in the controller. Nowadays Wireless Sensor Networks (WSN) has been applied in various domains like weather monitoring, military, home automation, health care monitoring, security and safety etc. The vehicle system is placed inside the vehicle which detects the accident location by means of sending a message. With the help of GPS and GSM module anywhere in the vehicle is traced. GSM modem used to send an exact location of the vehicle. Can Communication Based accident Emergency SupervisorySystem [5], In conclusion, an innovative wireless accelerometer and GPS tracking system has been developed for car accidental monitoring. The system can detect type of accident (linear and nonlinear fall) from accelerometer signal using threshold algorithm, posture after crashing of car and GPS ground speed. After accident, short alarm massage data (alarm massage and position of accident) will be sent via GSM network. The test results show that it can detect linear fall, non-linear fall and nominal ride with no false alarm. The automobile incorporating a machine-to-machine (M2M) device (GPS/GSM modem with a crash detector), the mobile operator and the emergency organizations, where all players are joined together by the geographic information network. In this research work, we have designed a platform for emergency rescue in case of an auto crash and developed a prototype and tested it. Therefore, the platform operates optimally in order to reduce the golden time of arrival when every micro-second counts. Assistance to Driver and Monitoring the Accidents on Road by using Three Axis Accelerometer and GPS [6],Using a smartphone, some innovative applications that are integrated inside an automobile can evaluate the overall road conditions including bumps, potholes, rough road, uneven road, petrol pump and food mall. Along with these findings, an analysis of driver behavior for safe driving such as vehicle accelerations and lane changes can be identified, which can advise drivers who are unaware of the risks they are potentially creating for themselves and neighboring vehicles. Along with this a GPS tracking system can be developed for vehicle accidental monitoring. The system can detect type of accident from accelerometer, posture after crashing of vehicle and GPS ground speed. After accident is detected, short alarmmessage data that is alarm message and position of accident will be sent via GSM network. Thus our overall work will give safety for the driver inside the vehicle. 126

III.HARDWARE DISCRIPTION Fig.1 Block diagram for wireless black box using MEMS accelerometer and GPS tracking for accidental monitoring of vehicles The MSP-EXP430G2 low-cost experimenter board called Launchpad is a complete development solution for the Texas Instruments MSP430G2553 Value Line series. It is a microcontroller. It offers an easy way to start developing on the MSP430, with onboard emulation for programming and debugging as well as buttons and LEDs for a simple user interface. The LaunchPad experimenter board is capable of programming the ez430-rf2500t target boards, the ez430-chronos watch module or the ez430-f2012t/f2013t target boards. The USB interface provides a 9600-Baud UART serial connection from the MSP430G2xx device to the host PC or a connected target board. The MAX220 MAX249 family of line drivers/receivers is intended for all EIA/TIA-232E and V.28/V.24 communications interfaces, particularly applications where ±12V is not available. These parts are especially useful in batterypowered systems, since their low-power shutdown mode reduces power dissipation to less than 5μW. This document describes the hardware interface of the SIMCOM SIM300 module that connects to the specific application and the air interface. As SIM300 can be integrated with a wide range of applications, all functional components of SIM300 are described in great detail. One of the most common inertial sensors is the accelerometer, a dynamic sensor capable of a vast range of sensing. Accelerometers are available that can measure acceleration in one, two, or three orthogonal axes. They are typically used in one of three modes:as an inertial measurement of velocity and position;as a sensor of inclination, tilt, or orientation in 2 or 3 dimensions, as referenced from the acceleration of gravity (1 g = 9.8m/s 2 );As a vibration or impact (shock) sensor.there are considerable advantages to using an analog accelerometer as opposed to an inclinometer such as a liquid tilt sensor inclinometers tend to output binary information (indicating a state of on or off), thus it is only possible to detect when the tilt has exceeded some thresholding angle. 127

V. CONCLUSION Thus the black box for 2 wheeler has been implemented successfully. The msp430 controls and coordinates all the peripherals attached with it. Finally the sms is sent via the GSM module to the hospital or anyother.
