What No One Tells You About Blogging It s A Big Deal!
Greetings Creatives, When I wrote the blog post What No One Tells You About Blogging, I was just beginning to sort out my niche. I had been following, reading, and researching multiple experts and I became easily overwhelmed. I was thinking this process would get the best of me and I would change my mind but I am so glad that I haven t given up. Wherever you are in your process keep moving forward because you are making an impact. I m not where I want to be but day by day I m getting there and you can too. After the release of my debut book, My Fourth Year of Middle School: The Truth About Teaching my vision was set on bigger things and perfecting my craft. I want the venture to be PROFITABLE! Keeping in line with the blog post; what I m about to show you will help you understand why the EXPERTS exist, CONTENT (workbooks, workshops, webinars) needs to be relevant, SOCIAL MEDIA is essential, and HARD WORK pays off. Because I am dedicated to making a difference, I want to help you get to the next level as I get to the next level as well. I have worn many hats, to include being an educator so I created this mini book to guide your process to help creatives like us THINK, PLAN, DO, and ACT. ~The Educated Butler
If you think like me, we realize creating is not a problem, neither is consistency but I m seeing the same material over and over again. So I decided to do something a little different in pursuit of consistency. I m reaching a broader audience, but I would love to see it all come together as I m sure you would too. Let s get started! From the blog The Experts This coveted title of blogging professionals, The Experts became the go to human capital in this bustling creative industry by asserting their authority and taking chances. It is not an easy feat deciding to share your words and your voice with the masses. Becoming a content creator, blogger, vlogger, and all things in this industry you choose to pour your individual interests and compelling vision into your workspace and desire to attract an audience. You will make mistakes; you will make many mistakes until you find a formula that works for you. No one is perfect so understand that you will revamp who you are, your message, and your image many times over. Whatever your niche is: books, beauty, inspiration, lifestyles, fitness and other social woes that need a platform, you will have to do a lot of planning. The experts learned the art of Hooking Their Target Audience because they understand that no one wants to read boring titles because that directly attributes to boring content. They are not afraid to push the envelope and say what everyone is thinking. They are equally committed to their approach which has become their signature style. Experts have broader audiences because they are deliberate as they create content that they are passionate and know all about. The personal branding, signature products and flawless execution continues to engage audiences. The experts have commanded their audiences to pay attention because it is a big deal. They are not the experts of mediocrity; their methods are tried and true. The experts are your blueprint, now it s time to leave your mark.
Content (Workbooks, Workshops, Webinars) Oddly, in start-up, investing in books, workshops, webinars, and other online content gets expensive. Once you have hooked your audience your next step is creating content. But how do you go about creating content? I don t think that there is a right or wrong way to create what you want your audience to have, but be clear with what you are presenting. It may sound very easy to Choose a Topic but sometimes creating takes on a mind of its own and very soon you lose your intended direction. There are a plethora of subjects to cover, but choose topics that you have experience in. Start with your interests, hobbies, your career and look to your family. The most intimate and exciting parts of your life will help you create a list long enough to generate content for weeks or even months. Once you choose the areas of your life you are most passionate about the work begins. Concentrating on your experiences helps you elevate to becoming an expert and carving out your niche. Don t be afraid to create content. Readers do not want to hear from experts all of the time because they are supposed to have the answers. Your audience wants to hear from everyday people, walking through life experiencing some of the same victories and defeats. They want to know what your experience was like when you tried online dating, they want to hear your quirky first date stories, your most embarrassing moments and all of the other things writers dive into as their niche. Create material teaching others what you know. Create content that maps out processes. Create material that will have a long shelf life and will become a power tool for yourself as well as your audience. Your anecdotal reasoning behind your content creation provides other creatives inspiration they need to continue on their path to create with purpose. Find your voice. Establish your style. Become distinctive and create reusable, signature content that keeps your audience coming back for more. So what do you do? Why do you do it? Got it! Now let s create!
Social Media Presenting your content on various sites is time consuming and confusing. But in order to Establish Your Voice it is a necessity. Let your voice resonate in your content. Of course no one tells you that you need to recycle, update, and revise your content continuously to make it more appealing. Your content should be consistently impactful each and every time it is viewed and shared. So with that being said...master Your Social Media. With the many mediums that can be used to share your work...of course your simple website design is important, but getting your work noticed is the next step. Scheduling content, content calendars, and planners are your best friend. It may be time consuming, but practice makes perfect. So practice the art of execution. As you share your content, your word choice is what pushes an article, blog post, critique, novel, or review along. The more vivid your words are in your descriptions and explanations, the better your content will read. Your social media is your time stamp so be distinctive. When you set yourself apart, find a format and style that attracts readers repeatedly then and only then have established your concrete voice. Readers will be able to recognize you in everything you create and share through your social media. You may feel obsessive, redundant, and intrusive. But being authentic, deliberate, and transparent is what will get your message across. Share often. Share more than you normally would. Keep your personal and business social media separate. Corner your market and grow your audience. After all blogging is not one size fit all. It is creating, networking, and originality. Take chances, push the envelope, and try something new. I tried something new which is what got your attention! Now onto the truth about blogging that no one tells you
It Is Not Easy It is discouraging! At first, very discouraging. To be honest, it is outright overwhelming. But once you learn to consume less then begin to create more, your vision becomes clearer. You have to be intentional. Have an intended purpose for everything you WRITE. However, be reminded that plenty of others have felt this very same way, more than once, and perhaps even today. Topic choice is everything when attempting to attract new readers and produce new content. Engage your readers from beginning to end, that way they come back to your space ready to read more. Insert yourself into your content. While blogging, do not be afraid to expose your truth and lessons learned. With deliberate and proper planning it is possible to attract, grow, and maintain a target audience. Mix it up! I have tried spot challenges like the meaning behind my website name, and the 20 things about me. They were cutesy but not what I really hoped to do in attracting readers. Topic generators became annoying so I reverted back to what works for ME. I write from my HEART! So you have to find what works for YOU! I wanted and you too will want the pretty little tiles for blog titles and other enticing images. Don t rush yourself! I m not rushing. But take a free course, do your research, we are all learning this business together. I will say this again, there is no true right or wrong way to launch or create even though there are a multitude of helpful checklists out there, created of course by The Experts. Work on your consistency because that is key. No one is telling you the perfect formula for creation, because you have to do the work!
