Governor - Division 15 Jerry Jones Southwest Region Trustee This week s program: First Responders Recognition, presented Steve McGraw and Committee. This quarter, the Roanoke Kiwanis Club is proud to recognize three very deserving local first responders. One of our recipients, a firefighter-emt, has repeatedly gone beyond the call of duty on many occasions during his 14-year career, has risen to the rank of captain in his department, and is a rescue shift supervisor. Another of our recipients, an animal warden, developed a scientific way to reduce the number of animal bites in her jurisdiction, and it proved to be so successful that it was adopted into law. Our other recipient, a police officer, turned a routine patrol - during which he recognized three individuals matching the description of shoplifting suspects - into solving numerous felonies and placing several similar new charges. We are very grateful for the financial support for today s program provided by ServPro of Roanoke.
