IEEE Smart Cities Initiative a global and multi-disciplinary effort Started in 2013 Goals http://smartcities.ieee.org create a vibrant and worldwide cities network share knowledge, experience and good practices involve local governance, universities, industries and, at first, local IEEE volunteers manage the transition to urbanization raise awareness of the benefits and downsides of technology help guide the appropriate uses of technology associate with other international organizations establish IEEE as a thought leader and trusted source for information on technology related to Smart Cities

IEEE Smart Cities Initiative Support the evolution of 10 core cities and a galaxy of affiliated cities through: strategic and practical advice from a dedicated team of IEEE experts and Working Groups producing white papers on specific topics education and training (support for Masters and PhD students, MOOCs) forum for collaboration of all entities involved in planning smart cities organization of workshops and international conferences collaborative city networks at a regional/sub-continental scale and involving every city stakeholders Currently selected cities: GUADALAJARA (Mexico) TRENTO (Italy) WUXI (China) KANSANS CITY (USA) CASABLANCA (Morocco)

IEEE SCI - Trento VISION: to be a world-leading knowledge based city fostering active and aware engagement of citizens, aimed at developing: quality of life cohesive relationships sustainable development Main strengths of Trento: ecosystem of research centers, university, industries strong commitment of public bodies shared vision and strong stakeholders links

IEEE SCI Trento: Domains generating collecting Big Data Open Data big data and open data life-cycle as core function of smart cities presenting optimizing predicting managing storing, processing, analyzing,... communicating

IEEE SCI Trento: Working Groups involving all stakeholders and domain experts PURPOSE: promote the definition of shared strategic goals in the development of Trento smart city in the following domains: Big Data and Open Data Smart Governance Health and Wellbeing Energy Efficiency Integrated Tourism Mobility they are the operating units of the initiative promote the evolution of the ecosystem through synergies and interactions promote the smart city development also applying to national and international projects
