TRACK 100/200 SPECIAL VEHICLE IDENTIFICATION SYSTEM GENERAL CHARACTERISTICS Track 100 and Track 200 are vehicle identification systems designed for the control and priority of public means of transport, buses, and any other vehicle that needs priority on a traffic lights installation. Track 100 is a single frequency system, while Track 200 can work with four different codes of frequency, giving four possible identifications both for receiver and for transmitter modules. Transmitter module is installed inside the vehicle and supplied by vehicle battery. Receiver is connected to an inductive loop spire placed under the road surface: the loop interacts with the transmitter through inductive action. The working mode is simple: the transmitter sends a lowpower message that is picked up and controlled by the receiver which supplies an output signal. This system allows for identification of vehicles fitted with the transmitter device, while unequipped vehicles are ignored by the receiver. TRANSMITTER The Transmitter Track 100 and Track 200 is studied for an easy connection to the frame of any vehicle and can operate with any environmental condition, even the most difficult. The power produced is considerable low and therefore regular concerning radio emission. RECEIVER The Receiver receives and controls the signal emitted by the transmitter. If it receives the signal within the inductive field, the receiver will supply an exit signal for the whole period of vehicle presence. The receiver is able to classify 4 different codes, as additional controls have been foreseen for each frequency. HEIMDALL TRAFFIC DETECTOR FAMILY HEIMDALL Is the Watchman of the Gods in Norse mytholodgy. He requires less sleep than a bird and can see a hundred miles around him, by night as well as by day. Full family of detector solutions Simple installation Low maintenance Immune to changing light conditions Easy replacement of previously installed units Advanced radar technology ON-CROSSING Designed to be used in pairs, this CW Doppler solution provides reliable detection of pedestrians when crossing at Puffin and similar type crossings. The use of on-crossing detectors enables the pedestrian green invitation to cross period to be kept to a minimum whilst ensuring conflicting vehicle green signals are delayed until the pedestrians have safely crossed the road, significantly enhancing the efficiency of the crossing compared to older fixed crossing period solutions.. KERBSIDE Using an advanced dual antenna design the Heimdall kerbside detector provides dependable sensing of pedestrians waiting to cross at Puffin and similar crossing types. The unique use of two integrated antennas allows the detector to provide excellent performance at a wide range of crossings without the need to use complex and expensive set-up software. By using advanced radar for this application the problems inherent in other solutions, which rely on video techniques, are eliminated and Heimdall kerbside units will operated as well in the dark as in fully lit conditions and are completely immune to the effects of shadows. 4

TERMINAL ACCESS Although most set-up and simple diagnostic tasks can be undertaken without the need to use a PC, access to advanced settings and performance data is provided via a simple handset interface. Identical in operation to similar facilities provided on Siemens controllers and many other Siemens products, this interface can be accessed at the detector via a PC, using widely available terminal software, without the need to purchase propriety software tools. Bluetooth Where terminal access is required for configuration and maintenance purposes at ground level, all Heimdall detectors can be fitted with a Siecom Bluetooth option. PCs utilising Siemens Siecom software, offer highly secure wireless communication with these detectors, and the Siecom features allow the configuration of many detectors within a region to be easily managed. Additional outputs Typically, each Heimdall detector offers a single isolated solid state output to indicate target detection. An additional output may also be specified to provide further detector output data or a dedicated detector fault output as required. Serial data For advanced applications, Heimdall detectors can be equipped with a serial communications facility to enable the detector status, configuration parameters and vehicle data such as speed and occupancy to be accessed remotely. RXC Series DOPPLER MICROWAVE RADAR High-technology SPOT radars use the Doppler Fizeau principle in the 24,125 GHz frequency (band K). Thanks to this high frequency band, SPOT radars detection results are fully effective and reliable. Each parameter - range, direction of movement, speed threshold, minimum movement, filters, etc. can be easily adjusted on front plate. Its optional infrared remote control makes on-site configuration easier. Adjustments can be immediately seen, checked, and modified at the user s convenience. Driving direction for detection Two possibilities selectable by switch: unidirectional for approaching vehicles or omnidirectional for both directions. It makes this product flexible in terms of use. Minimum length of movement This is the minimum movement before detecting a vehicle. This function acts as a real filter, rejecting false detections due to the direct environment (trees, wind, instable post...). It ensures that only the desired target is detected. Compensation of the inclination angle A specific setting compensates the measure error due to radar inclination angle. A precise marking on the fixing bracket easily defines the correction setting to apply. 7

ThermiCam INTEGRATED THERMAL TRAFFIC SENSOR ThermiCam is an integrated thermal camera and detector for vehicle and bike presence detection and counting at signalized intersections. ThermiCam detects vehicles and bicycles at and nearby the stop bar. The intelligent ThermiCam sensor will transmit its detection information over contact closures or over IP to the traffic light controller and will thus allow a more dynamic control of traffic lights. This dynamic control will result in: Reduced vehicle idling time Improved traffic flow Reduced vehicle emissions Improved safety and mobility for bicyclists THERMAL IMAGING FOR INTERSECTION CONTROL ThermiCam makes use of thermal video images to analyze the traffic scene. When it comes to intersection control, thermal imaging offers some undeniable benefits: Distinguish between vehicles and bikes ThermiCam uses the thermal energy emitted from vehicles and bicyclists to make a distinction between both. The intelligent sensor can provide the traffic light controller with specific information on vehicle and bike presence, which allows traffic managers to make more intelligent decisions and adapt green times according to the specific road user type (bike or other vehicle). Guaranteed detection, day and night ThermiCam is able to detect vehicles and bikes in the darkest of nights over a long range and across different lanes (typically up to 4). As a result, it gives traffic managers uninterrupted, 24-hour detection of motorized vehicles and cyclists regardless of the amount of light available. Detection in difficult weather conditions ThermiCam offers reliable vehicle and bike presence detection in various conditions that are tough for traditional, visual cameras, such as sun glare, wet road surfaces, car headlights, shadows, snow or fog. INTERSECTION APPLICATIONS Green on demand As a direct replacement of electro-magnetic loops, ThermiCam offers vehicle and bike detection at the stop bar. A very common application is green on demand. This means that the green light is activated only when a bike or vehicle is present in the dedicated detection zone. Both moving and stationary bikes and other vehicles can be detected. ThermiCam is able to handle up to 16 virtual vehicle detection zones and up to 4 virtual bike detection regions (larger surface compared to a zone, which is more efficient for bike detection) Lengthening green times ThermiCam can also be used for advance detection of bikes and other vehicles. A common application is lengthening the green time. For bikes: If there is a bicycle at a certain distance from the stop bar, the green time can be extended until the bicycle has left the area. For other vehicles: Here, ThermiCam can effectively replace inductive loops as well as radar. If there is a vehicle in the dilemma zone - the zone where the driver can hesitate between stopping or driving in case the traffic light turns to amber - the green time can be extended until the vehicle has left the area. Counting ThermiCam also offers vehicle and bicycle counting. This functionality can work simultaneously with the presence detection functionality and uses the same detection zones and regions. 10

TrafiCam Series VEHICLE PRESENCE SENSOR The TrafiCam Series of vehicle presence sensors combines a CMOS camera and video detector together to make two specialized products: TrafiCam vehicle presence sensor for standalone use TrafiCam X-stream vehicle presence sensor and data collector with video streaming Both the TrafiCam and TrafiCam X-Stream sensors are used for detection and monitoring of moving and stationary vehicles at signalized intersections. via detection outputs or via IP protocol, vehicle presence information is transmitted to the traffic controller so that signal timing can be adjusted dynamically. This way, vehicle waiting time at traffic lights is reduced and traffic flows are optimized. The smart TrafiCam sensors are a cost-effective and reliable alternative to inductive loops. DIRECT VISUAL VERIFICATION The TrafiCam series allows you to exactly position and verify the vehicle presence detection zones. Since these zones are displayed on a video image, you can easily reposition them to adapt to changing traffic situations. MULTIPLE & DIRECTION-SENSITIVE TrafiCam and TrafiCam X-Stream detect vehicles, day and night, in up to 16 zones. This allows vehicle presence detection over different lanes. The TrafiCam series has detection zones indicating presence of vehicles moving in a specific direction. EASY AND FAST INSTALLATION TrafiCam is easy to install. TRAFICAM X-STREAM TrafiCam X-Stream offers a number of additional capabilities over the standard TrafiCam sensor. Video Streaming Stream full frame rate video with MPEG-4 or H.264 compression for seamless system and traffic monitoring directly from your control room. Its user-friendly web interface allows TrafiCam X-Stream users to manage their video sources online. Traffic Data Collection TrafiCam X-Stream is also a cost-effective solution for traffic data collection (volume, speed, occupancy, gap time, headway and classification on multiple lanes), queue detection and traffic flow monitoring on highways and inter-urban roads. It can be used for temporary data collection or on a more permanent basis. 12
