FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS What is the goal of the Walk-a-Thon? Sabah Wetlands Conservation Society (SWCS) holds this exciting fundraising event to promote Kota Kinabalu Wetlands (KKW), to spread awareness and educate the public about the importance of wetlands for our future and to encourage healthy lifestyles. What does Walk-N-Plant-A-Thon fundraising pay for? The fund raised from this event will be used to support the management of KK Wetlands and the conservation effort of mangrove tree replanting. When are the registration forms due? Registration forms are due on Sunday, 31 st January 2016. The first 50 early birds will receive a mysterious freebie. What will be included in my RM50 registration fee? Registration cost includes; i. Commemorative T-Shirt ii. Certificate of appreciation iii. Goodie bag with mysterious freebie (for the first 50 early birds) iv. Complimentary light freshments and drinks v. 2-mangrove seedling (basically, you support the growth of two mangrove trees!) When can I collect the walk pack? After we receive and process your walk-a-thon registration form, you can collect the walk pack on Sunday, 21 st February 2016 at KK Wetlands. Gate opens at 8am 6pm. Can children register and walk? Parents are more than welcome to walk with their child(ren) - 6 years old and above. Bring your friends and family. What about Parking? We have 40 parking lots inside KKW s premise (first come first serve basis). We encourage car pool and drop off. Where we will be walking? Walkers will complete their 2KM walk-a-thon along the boardwalk into the 24 hectares mangrove forest. Consist of; 1.5KM Boardwalk 200M Mud Walk/ Gravel Path 300M Walkway
TERMS & CONDITONS OF THE 2KM WALK-N-PLANT-A-THON i. The Organiser The 2KM Walk-N-Plant-A-Thon (walk-a-thon) is organised by Sabah Wetlands Conservation Society, a non-for-profit organisation focused on wetlands conservation. In conjunction of World Wetlands Day 2016, this environment event is aims to raise awareness on the importance of wetlands for our future, whilst promoting a healthy lifestyle among the public. ii. Date and Venue The 2KM Walk-N-Plant-A-Thon shall be held on 27 th February 2016 in Kota Kinabalu Wetlands. Participants shall take places on the starting line as indicated by the organiser. The organiser reserves the right to change the date/time/location of the 2KM Walk-N- Plant-A-Thon, but in such cases takes it upon himself to inform participants about the change via the website, social media or email sent no later than 24 hours before the scheduled start of the event. Making the abovementioned change does not lead to the organiser having any additional obligations towards participants. iii. iv. Time Limit and Controls Walk-a-thon starts at 7.30am and estimated to complete at 10.00am Drink Station and Medical Point Drink station and Medical Point will be located at the assembly point/finishing line. v. Participation In order to take part in the 2KM Walk-N-Plant-A-Thon, the participant shall: Fill in the application form Agree to observe these Terms and Conditions Participants take part in the 2KM Walk-N-Plant-A-Thon on their own responsibility, being fully aware of any threats and dangers connected with the nature of the event, which may include loss (or impairment) of their health and life. Only persons in good health and with no medical contraindications to their participation in the event may take part in the 2KM Walk-N-Plant-A-Thon. Agree to the processing of the Participation s personal data included in the above-mentioned application form and in the declaration of good health required in order to take part in 2KM Walk-N-Plant-A-Thon. Agree to the use of their image in the form of photography or a video recording free of charge. Participants in 2KM Walk-N-Plant-A-Thon shall receive a commemorative t- shirt in one of the standard adult sizes and undertake to wear it during the 2KM Walk-N-Plant-A-Thon. However, due to organisational and technical reasons, the organiser may not guarantee t-shirts in the appropriate size. Participants shall respect public order, observe any instructions from the event safety personnel and respect other participant in the 2KM Walk-N-Plant-A-
Thon. The organiser shall be entitled to remove from the course of the 2KM Walk-N-Plant-A-Thon any persons who in any manner disturb public order, disturb the organisation of the 2KM Walk-N-Plant-A-Thon or breach either of these Terms and Conditions. vi. Application Procedure Applications shall be accepted via the application form available on the website or hard copy form obtains from KKW s office. The organiser sets the limit of participations at 100 individuals. The applications for participation in the 2KM Walk-N-Plant-A-Thon shall be processed in the order they are received. Application may be submitted through email, fax or by hand. The deadline for submitting applications shall be 31 st January 2016, 8am 6pm. Registration fee for Participation in 2KM Walk-N-Plant-A-Thon is RM50 only per person. vii. Classification and Prizes The organiser shall not provide any classification or prizes for the 2KM Walk-N-Plant- A-Thon participants. viii. Final Provisions The organiser shall provide medical care at the finish line. It shall be specifically forbidden to move around the course of the 2KM Walk-N-Plant- A-Thon by riding a bicycle, in a wheelchair, by roller skating or by riding any other mechanical devices, or being accompanied by animals, without valid consent from the organiser and RUNNING is a big NO. The organiser shall not be responsible for the participants belongings left on the course of the 2KM Walk-N-Plant-A-Thon. The organiser shall not be liable for any possible damage made by participants as a result of their participation in the 2KM Walk-N-Plant-A-Thon. Participants acknowledge and agree that the organiser shall be entitled to refuse to allow any participant to take part in the 2KM Walk-N-Plant-A-Thon if such participant does not observe these Terms and Conditions, instructions from the even personnel or from representatives of the organisers during the 2KM Walk-N-Plant-A-Thon. The organiser reserves the right to change the Terms and Conditions, unless such a change would serve to disadvantage of participants, especially through limiting the rights acquired through these Terms and Conditions. Any changes shall be valid from the date of being published on the website or social media.
