When you purchase a magnetic snap, you will receive 4 metal pieces in total. Find the mid point of the flap with the fusible fleece on the back. Measure 2" up from the bottom of your flap. Mark and place a 1 x 2 rectangle of hard fusible centered on this mark and fuse in place. This is the piece you are going to add the male side of the magnetic snap. Place a washer on the wrong side of the fabric, 2" up from the bottom center of your flap. Mark with a pencil two lines, from top and bottom tracing inside the rectangles on the washer. (Diagram 3) Put the washer over the arms from the fusible side. Using pliers, fold each arm of the clasp out and down in opposite directions around the washer. Make the arms as flat as a possible. folded arms magnetic clasp (male) DIAGRAM 5 To attach the female side of the magnetic clasp, cut out a small rectangle of hard fusible about 1" x 2". Place on the wrong side of the fabric about 4" down from the top of the exterior of the bag. Iron fusible in place. In the middle of this fusible piece is where you are going to place your female side of the magnet clap. Repeat the same process in Diagram 3-5 with the female side of the magnet. Line up the seam on your side panel to the bottom midpoint of your front bag. Make sure right sides are together and continue pinning the side panel. Cut off excess farbic. Sew side panel to front bag. Take the back of bag and repeat this same process to sew the other side of the side panel. DIAGRAM 10.2 Sew ends of straps to each side panel. Tuck the exterior of the bag into the lining. Right sides of the lining and exterior of the bag should be facing each other. Pin lining and exterior of bag together. Sew around top of bag at 1/2". Flip right side of the bag through the unsewn portion in the lining. Fold under raw edges and hand stitch or machine stitch unsewn portion in lining closed. Next take the front and back lining pieces and sew the side panel the same way we attached the side panel to the exterior of the bag but leave a small unsewn portion in order to pull the rigth side of the bag through.
