Life at Deloitte Millennials and Corporate Giving: What s the connection? November 2016 3 Deloitte was invited to participate as a Knowledge Partner at the inaugural Company of Good dialogue session on Corporate Giving & Millennials: Why should companies care? held on 5 October 2016. Organised by the National Volunteer & Philanthropy Centre, in partnership with the Singapore Business Federation Foundation, over 200 participants attended this interesting event. Based on the Deloitte Millennial Survey 2016, almost 70% of millennials expect to leave their organisation by the end of 2020, so how can companies tackle this loyalty challenge and retain their talent? This was one of the questions addressed during the dialogue session where Talent Partner Seah Gek Choo shared the survey millennials and how companies can align their purpose with that of millennials. She also participated in a riveting dialogue discussion with Lim Siong Guan, Group President of GIC Private Limited, Alvin Yapp, Director of BusAds, Cheryl Chen, Head of Corporate Citizenship at Citi of The Social Co. 4 SG InTouch Life at Deloitte Exploring Singapore s best kept secret On 8 October 2016, our colleagues from Audit Group 1, Group 5 and GIOS gathered for an IDG Team White outing of clear skies and pristine waters, they embarked on a treasure hunt, going through a series of trivia questions and over the island. Bite-sized challenges ranging from card pyramid stacking to 3D mazes injected plenty of excitement and fun. In the end, Chua How Kiat (Audit Partner) and his team emerged victorious and they walked away with a slew of collectibles. The treasure hunt certainly brought everyone together and provided ample opportunities to mingle even after the IDG season has ended and everyone agreed that it was an excellent At the end of the day, everyone returned to the mainland, refreshed, rejuvenated and ready for the next challenge! START The highlight of the event to me was the activity that required us to build our own ice cream sticks. It required creativity and innovation to come up with the optimal structure. As an associate, I felt that the activity enabled me to mingle with seniors and managers on an informal basis and allowed me to get to know and understand them better. Paul Wong, Audit Group 5 Associate The outing was a lot more fun and interesting than what I expected. It was a good day and the scenery on the island was amazing but most importantly, I got the chance to interact with some seniors and assistants whom I have not worked with before. Fang Hui, GIOS Manager FINISH I particularly enjoyed the challenge that involved stones. We worked together to complete the challenge as some of us have not played it before. It allowed us to connect to the past and learn more about our traditions. As a senior, I am happy to see the associates taking the lead to complete the treasure hunt. I look forward to more chances to understand and know my associates outside of work.
