SLIDE 06 Solutions Document/Installation Manual 1 The Slide 06 door system from 3form is a completely unframed panel door that uses the same sophisticated, tried-and-true rollers and track as Slide 05. This creates an aesthetically appealing, versatile door system with excellent functionality that can have the weight born on either the ceiling or the wall through the use of the wall-mount converter. Slide 06 puts the emphasis on the material it holds, making a beautiful, functional solution for your installation.

FOR ASSEMBLY INSTRUCTIONS TURN DIRECTLY TO PAGE 13 Overview 1. CEILING OR WALL MOUNTED TRACK Since the top track (which bears the weight of the door) can be installed on the ceiling or the wall, there are a variety of possible applications. These include single sliding doors, bypassing doors (2 doors maximum, ceiling mounted track only), and biparting doors. ACCESSORIES 2. FRAMELESS DOOR OPTIONS AND DETAILS The configuration of Slide 06 involves suspending your preferred material in a top bracket with thru holes. Panel Stiffener Handles then provide additional rigidity for superior functionality with Varia, or you can use a sleek, small handle option for 1/2 Chroma or 7/16 Struttura. The frameless doors are then guided on the bottom through the use of floor guides. Please see the Slide Compatibility Matrix at www.3-form.com/hardware-slide.php for material type and gauge compatibility, and refer to the material specification information for actual gauge information. 3: ADDITIONAL OPTIONS & ACCESSORIES With each door configuration, there are different options to choose from depending on the desired functionality and the aesthetic appearance of the panels. These include the wall mount converter kit, end covers, bumpers, and stops. These will be detailed later in the document with specific conditions for when needed. 2

Slide 06 Solutions 1: BIPARTING DOORS Biparting doors (sometimes referred to as Barn Doors) are most commonly mounted with the weight born on the wall, as when the doors are open they are situated in front of the wall. When these doors are closed, they butt into one another and are flush. This can be done by using a single top track, mounted to the wall using the wall mount converter. Bottom U- Guides are then placed at the outside edge of the door when it is closed. A stop is placed at each end inside the top track to park the doors and 2 bumpers are placed in the middle of the track, facing away from one another, to stop the doors from moving beyond the center of the track. Since this is likely to be a wall mounted application, please consider wall mount end covers, end cover connectors, and bumpers when ordering. Slide 06 Solutions 2: BYPASSING DOORS Even with the stiffener handles bypassing doors are still possible, but you can have no more than 2 bypassing doors. To achieve this, place 2 top tracks side-by-side. Please see Page 8 for clearance details with bypassing top tracks. The stiffener handles should be placed with the screw holes of each handle on the inside of the bypassing doors, this way the handles of the doors will never touch. A U-Guide for each door is then placed in the center of the opening so that the doors never travel out of the guides. Page 8 also shows the distance to place the U-Guides to keep the doors exactly the same distance from one another. There should also be a 70mm overlap between the doors. Please consider this overlap and the height and width of the opening to determine panel sizes when ordering. Slide 06 Solutions 3: WALL MOUNT SINGLE DOOR When mounting a single door to the ceiling or to the wall, please be aware of the desired travel of the door, as the track will need to extend the entire length of the door s travel. When this door is wall mounted through use of the Wall Mount Profile, you will need bumpers or stops and end caps to finish off the side of the track. In order to maximize the stability of the door when closed, this installation shows a U-Guide with Rollers on the side where the door travels and a U-Guide receiver on the opposite side to secure the closed door. When the door is fully open the U-Guide with Rollers should be placed at the end of the panel on the side of the door opening. This way the door never rolls out of the U-Guides. Brakes or stops can be placed in the top track to ensure the door is held at the proper location when opened and closed. Panel fabrication must be done by 3form. Features SLIDE 06 1. CEILING MOUNTED TRACK The ceiling mounted track permits an excellent sliding door installation when no floor track is desired. The smooth, self-centering rollers glide in the perfectly-sized track. The maximum recommended weight of each door is 130 lbs. You can have multiple doors on the same track, but each roller assembly should only bear 65 lbs. each, and it is not recommended that more than 2 roller assemblies are used per door, resulting in a maximum door weight of 130 lbs. Ceiling track must be drilled on site for fastening to ceiling to site conditions. 2. TOP TRACK The top track may be fastened directly to an overhead substrate that is appropriate for the weight it will bear. The appropriate fasteners for the substrate should be provided by the installer, and can be drilled directly through the top of the track into the substrate. In general, it is recommended that screws be fastened through the track to the substrate at least every 2, but it is up to the installer to choose the most appropriate number of screws depending on the condition. If the track is being mounted to the wall using the wall mount converter, screw the wall mount converter to the wall using appropriate fasteners (also provided by the installer). The wall mount converter will come pre-drilled and tapped with screws for easy connecting, the top track must be marked and drilled (.25" dia.) on site to match the wall mount converter. So after the wall mount converter is fastened to the wall, simply connect the track to the wall mount converter using the holes and screws provided. FEATURES 54 Ceiling track 53.5 81 81 6 53.5 54 21 21 3. FLOOR GUIDES 13 45 The U-Guide with Rollers and the U-Guide Receiver operate to keep the doors in place at the bottom as they slide along the top track. The door should always be engaged with the U-Guide with rollers, and the U-Guide receiver accepts the door at the opposite side of an opening. When using the U-Guides, ensure that the panel dimension will allow for a 3/16 minimum clearance between Floor the panel track and the floor and a maximum clearance of 7/8. This will ensure the proper engagement between the panel and the guide while allowing for some variance in the level of the floor. 9 34 7

Features 4. BYPASSING DOOR TRACK PLACEMENT When installing bypassing doors place 2 top tracks next to one another as shown below. You would also place 2 U-Guides with Rollers and 2 U-Guide Receivers next to one another on the floor at the distance shown below. You can have no more than 2 bypassing doors with this system. For more bypassing doors it is required to have a floor track to hold the doors in place. Please see the 3form Slide 04 system for more bypassing doors. Ceiling track must be drilled on site for fastening to ceiling to site conditions. Ceiling track 100 45 7 45 Floor track 33 38 70 45 8

Features 5. LEVEL ADJUSTMENT The roller assembly attaches to the top profile of the frame. Once the door is installed, you can adjust the level of the door as shown below using a standard wrench. 6. VALANCE Once the door is properly adjusted, simply snap the valance directly onto the top track, whether it is ceiling mounted or wall mounted through use of the wall mount converter. If the track is mounted against a wall and will never be seen from the back side, no valance is needed on that side, but a valance should always be used on at least one side, and sometimes both if both sides are visible. 9

Overall Dimensions 1. When ordering your door, please be aware of the following panel deductions that need to be considered for your installation. All figures are in mm. So, your panel height must be 76mm less than the total opening height to account for the top track, the bracket and roller, and the bottom U-Guides. 6 H H - 76 = Ph 46 76 70 Total High = H Panel High = Ph = H - 76 Example: H = 2200mm Ph = 2124mm 10

Overall Dimensions 2. When determining the width of your doors, please take into account the desired overlap of the door and the wall, or the 2 doors in a bypassing configuration. In a single door wall mounted opening, the panel needs to be 130mm wider than the opening so that when the door is closed there will be no reveal between the door and the wall. Please pay careful attention to these deductions for all scenarios to determine proper door size. Pw Panel Width = Pw SINGLE DOOR OPENING (WM) = SDO Pw = SDO + 130 SDO = 800mm Pw = 800 + 130 = 930mm 70mm TWO BYPASSING DOORS OPENING = BDO Pw = BDO / 2 + 35 (overlap 70mm) BDO = 1600mm Pw = 1600 / 2 + 35 = 835mm TWO BYPARTING DOORS OPENING = BDO Pw = BDO / 2 + 65 BDO = 1600mm Pw = 1600 / 2 + 65 = 865mm 11

ADA Compliance Per the Department of Justice ADA Regulations, the following guidelines should be considered in the design of your custom Slide solution when used to treat doorway openings: 4.5.2 Changes in Level. Changes in level up to 1/4 in (6 mm) may be vertical and without edge treatment. Changes in level between 1/4 in and 1/2 in (6 mm and 13 mm) shall be beveled with a slope no greater than 1:2 (see Fig. 7(d) ). Changes in level greater than 1/2 in (13 mm) shall be accomplished by means of a ramp that complies with 4.7 or 4.8 4.13.5 Clear Width. Doorways shall have a minimum clear opening of 32 in (815 mm) with the door open 90 degrees, measured between the face of the door and the opposite stop. 4.13.8* Thresholds at Doorways. Thresholds at doorways shall not exceed 3/4 in (19 mm) in height for exterior sliding doors or 1/2 in (13 mm) for other types of doors. Raised thresholds and floor level changes at accessible doorways shall be beveled with a slope no greater than 1:2 (see 4.5.2). 4.13.9* Door Hardware. tion Manual PART 1 - ASSEMBLY STEP 1. It is recommended for maximum quality that all panel fabrication be done by 3form. If your panel is not fabricated upon delivery, use the below layout to determine hardware placement, then use the actual parts as templates for all drilling, being careful not to scratch any of the hardware. Or, contact 3form for a more detailed template. x2 x2 x2 For Varia, use 2 stiffener handles. For Chroma, use the Chroma handle. STEP 1a. Install the Stiffener Handles on the panel. The thinner side of the stiffener handle (where the screws will be fastened) should be on the back side of the door. Chroma x1 for Chroma 3-form.com or call 800.726.0126?? 2008 3form, Inc. PART 1 - ASSEMBLY STEP 2. Install the top brackets to the top of the panel with the pre-drilled holes. Use the countersunk screws to attach the back of the bracket in place. The sides of the brackets with screws should be on the back side of the door. STEP 3. Install the bracket from the Top Roller Assembly onto the top bracket by using the small screws in the top bracket to hold it into place. The Top Roller itself should not be attached to the Top Bracket at this point. < OR > < OR > STEP 4. Install all hardware inside the top track that needs to be inside the track once it is attached to the top surface. This includes bumpers or stops, as well as the top rollers. Both rollers should be next to one another in the track, with the bumpers or stops on the outside. Profile Elevation Profile 16

PART 2 - INSTALLATION STEP 5.1. Attach the top track to the top surface. The top track may be fastened directly to an overhead substrate that is appropriate for the weight it will bear, which should be no more than 130 lbs. per door. The appropriate fasteners should be provided by the installer and should be drilled and countersunk directly through the top of the track into the substrate. In general, it is recommended that screws be fastened through the track at least every 2, but this should be determined by the installer based on the condition. STEP 5.2. If the track is being mounted to the wall using the wall mount converter kit (3-15-0200-K), Drill and screw the wall mount converter to the wall using appropriate fasteners (also provided by the installer) to studs and reinforcement. Mount wall adapter to wall prior to attaching top track. Mount the pre-drilled and countersunk top track with provided fasteners (M4x.7, 3-15-0865) to the wall adapter. STEP 6.1. Fasten the bottom guides to the appropriate spot on the floor. Additional anchoring, such as concrete anchors, must be selected by the installer. When determining positioning of the guides on the floor, consider the overall travel of the door. The bottom guide should always be engaged with the panel, and this engagement can also be controlled by positioning the stops inside the top track. door open door close Overlap zone STEP 6.2. If this is a bypassing door where 2 doors will always overlap, U-Guides with Rollers should be installed directly in the center where the doors will overlap. For a biparting door or single door, please see step 11. 17

PART 2 - INSTALLATION STEP 7. Install the assembled panel door to the top track by placing the bottom of the door in the guide first, then sliding the bolt in the Top Roller assembly into the opening in the top bracket. STEP 8. Level the door by adjusting the top roller hanging bolt with a wrench. When adjusting for level, consider the plumb of the wall that the door will butt into as well to ensure that when the door is closed, it will be flush with the wall. Once you have achieved your desired level, tighten the top bolt down onto the bracket to secure the door in place. 18

PART 2 - INSTALLATION STEP 9. Snap the valance securely onto the top track where it is exposed, as shown here. If the top track is exposed on both sides of the door, you should have two valances, one for each side. STEP 10. If a side of your top track is exposed, install the end caps by inserting the connecting bracket of the end cap into the uppermost slot in the top track, then tightening the set screw to hold it in place. STEP 11. If your door is a single panel or a biparting door (or Barn Door ), the U-Guide with rollers should be installed directly in front of the wall on the side the door will open toward, so that the bottom of the door is always engaged. In a biparting condition, you would have a single U-Guide with rollers at each wall where the door overlaps the wall, but no U-Guide Receiver in the center, as this would become a tripping hazard. In a single door condition, you would have a U-Guide with rollers on the side of the wall where the door opens so it is always engaged with the door, and a U-Guide Receiver on the opposite side to accept the door when it is closed. 19
