City Rail Loop (Pisararata) The City Rail Loop is a planned urban railway line for commuter trains under the Helsinki city centre. The loop-shaped railway starts in Pasila and runs in a tunnel via Töölö, Helsinki city centre, Hakaniemi and back to Pasila. At present, problems in train traffic easily lead to disturbances affecting the whole country, since the commuter and longdistance traffic are so closely connected. This new railway line will smooth traffic flow not only for the 1.4 million inhabitants in the Helsinki region, but in the whole country.
Largest design project based on information / product modelling in Finland. Complex, built, urban and historical environment. Multidiciplinary Integration of all fields of expertise by modelling In City Rail Loop design process the modelling is expected to: improve communication with authorities and decicion makers give support for city planning help finding possibilities and best practicies improve quality and cost controll in design improve productivity in construction
