The one true mahogany
Known as the true mahogany of the West Indies, Fiji Mahogany is a wood that for centuries has been treasured by craftsmen, owing their success to its strength, workability and beauty. The legacy of mahogany endures to this day within some of the world s most historic homes and landmarks. Our grades of Fiji Mahogany share the same beauty and durability of eras past. Fiji Mahogany is easy to work with, using hand or machine tools, and polishes well. It easily accommodates modern design concepts, adding new dimensions to any project. The workability of the wood, with its straight and evenly-textured grain, make it the ideal choice for construction, boatbuilding and furniture making - to name but a few of its uses. Fiji Mahogany is an exotic wood that compares favorably to more common species; and often does so at a fraction of the cost. The exquisiteness of this wood not only lies in the beauty and value it brings to any project, but in our environmentally-sound methods of harvest and its unique sustainability as a crop. For a quarter of a century, Wood Products International has married traditional and contemporary design styles with modern and responsible farming techniques. The result is an environmentally-sound company recognized the world over. Building with Fiji Mahogany has never been more economical, attractive and Earth-friendly and now, thanks to Wood Products International, made more sense. Building for generations
Mahogany has been the preferred wood of craftsmen ever since mankind began sculpting and redefining the world around him. From the 14th through 18th centuries, mahogany was a popular choice in Europe for decorative inlays, artistic carvings, designer floor patterns and custom furniture. It can still be found in 16th century Italian palaces, in parquetry floor of 18th century French hotels, and the floors of George Washington s original home. In fact, much of the earliest furniture made in the American Colonies during the mid 1700s was crafted from this resilient, elegant wood. Today, mahogany is still very much a viable resource for building and can be found in myriad projects from fine furniture and flooring to instruments and turnery. Among its many other uses include cabinet making, interior trim, paneling, fancy veneers, plywood and carving. Its strength and high resistance to wood rot also make mahogany an ideal lumber for boat construction and outdoor furniture. Talent for superior construction
