820 820 870 Merloni Elettrodomestici 1 CONFORMITY OF APPLIANCE This appliance complies with the following EC Directives: 73/23/EEC dated 19/02/73 (Low voltages) and subsequent amendments 89/336/EEC dated 03/05/89 (Electromagnetic Compatibility) and subsequent amendments 2 DIMENSIONS OF WASHING MACHINE/WASHER-DRIER AND HOUSING SPACE Fig. 1 537 598 600 min 570 min The housing space, as well as having the dimensions indicated in Fig. 1, must obviously allow the electric cable and the water supply and drainage pipes to pass. GB 99-11-03/01 3-14
3 UNPACKING Fig. 2 After removing the packing, ensure that the appliance is undamaged. The inside of the washing machine/washer-drier comprises a swinging unit, which is locked during transport using three screws at the rear of the machine, as shown in Fig. 2. GB 99-11-03/01 4-14
4 LEVELLING Fig. 3 To ensure that the washing machine/washer-drier operates properly, it must be set level. To level the machine, turn the adjusting feet as illustrated in Fig. 3. The angle of inclination measured on the worktop must not exceed 2 degrees. When fitting on carpeting, ensure that ventilation is not blocked at floor level. GB 99-11-03/01 5-14
5 FITTING THE FRONT PANEL AND INSERTING THE MACHINE INTO THE UNITS Should it be necessary to transport the machine to its final destination after having fitted the wooden panel, we recommend that the original packing be used; for this reason the packing has been designed to allow the wooden panel to be fitted to the machine without having to unpack the product completely, as can be seen from Fig. 4. 5.2 Fitting the elements to the front of the machine Fit the hinge supports to the surface, positioning the hole indicated by an arrow in Fig. 5 towards the inside of the surface, and using screws of type C. Fit the magnet striker on the opposite side at the top, using the two screws of type B. 5.3 Using the drilling template Bring the top edge of the drilling template up to the top edge of the panel, ensure that it is correctly positioned and centred both vertically and horizontally, referring to the lines drawn at the ends, and mark the positions of the four holes on the wooden panel. Using a milling cutter of suitable size, cut the four housings for the two hinges, the rubber block and the magnet. 5.4 Fitting the elements on the wooden panel (door) Insert the hinges into the housings prepared (the mobile part of the hinge must be towards the outside of the panel) and fasten them using four screws of type A. Insert the magnet into the top housing on the opposite side from the hinges, and fasten it using two screws of type B. Insert the rubber block into the housing at the bottom. The panel is now ready to be fitted on the machine. 5.5 Fitting the panel on the machine Insert the prong of the hinge indicated by an arrow in Fig. 6 into the housing on the hinge support, press the panel towards the surface of the machine and fasten the two hinges using two screws of type D. 5.6 Fitting the machine into the units Fig. 11 Push the appliance into the opening, aligning it with the other units. Turn the adjusting feet to bring the machine up to the required height. To adjust the position of the wooden panel vertically and horizontally, turn screws C and D illustrated in Fig. 11. Fig. 12 If the machine is fitted at one end of the modular kitchen, fit one or both the mopboard guides as shown in Fig. 12. 90 mm Using the screws type F, adjust the depth according to the position of the mopboard, and if necessary fix it to the guides. 6 PLUMBING IN 6.1 Connecting to the water supply Ensure that the water pressure is within the minimum and maximum levels indicated in the rating plate, located at the rear of the washing machine/washer-drier. Connect the supply pipe to a cold water tap with a _ threaded mouth, taking care to fasten it tightly to the tap and inserting the filter element A carefully (Fig. 13). If the water supply pipe is new, or has not been used for some time, run the water through it before connecting, until the water runs clear and contains no impurities. If this precaution is not taken, the water inlet may become clogged, damaging the machine. Connect the other end of the pipe to the machine at the water connector provided, top right hand side (Fig. 14). Fig. 13 Fig. 14 A GB 99-11-03/01 11-14
6.2 Connecting the drainage pipe Fig. 15 The drainage pipe can be connected as follows: 1. To the sink drain siphon, ensuring that the drainage pipe is fastened to the worktop to prevent water from returning to the Washer-drier; 2. To a drainage pipe with a minimum diameter of 40 mm; 3. Resting it on the sink, using the special plastic U-bend provided to prevent crushing or excessive curving of the pipe (Fig. 15). The special plastic U-bend must be firmly fixed to the wall to prevent the drainage pipe from moving and draining water anywhere but into the sink. In all cases, the free end of the pipe must measure between 40 and 100 mm and it must not be underwater. A GB 99-11-03/01 12-14
Fig. 16 It is important that the pipe be positioned at a height of above 60 cm; otherwise the pipe must be fastened to the hook provided at the top of the back section, as illustrated in Fig. 16. 7 CONNECTION TO THE MAINS Insert the plug into a power socket fitted with a proper earthing connection, after first checking that the voltage and frequency of the mains power supply correspond to the values indicated on the rating plate on the machine's stainless steel door fairing, and that the system to which it is being connected is sized for the maximum load indicated on the plate. If the socket to which the machine is connected does not correspond to the plug, always replace it with a suitable plug, rather than using adapters or extensions, as these might result in overheating and therefore create a fire hazard. CAUTIONS AND ADVICE 1. Do not use drainage pipes with extensions over three metres in length, as these might reduce the efficiency of the appliance. If required, the spare parts code is 26297 and the pipe is 3 metres long. Should it be necessary to use a water supply pipe longer than the one provided with the machine (with waterstop), the spare parts code is 057866 and the pipe is 3.5 m long. 2. To ensure that the machine operates correctly it must be properly levelled, so that its inclination does not exceed 2â on the top. To do this, turn the adjusting feet (Chapter 4).
