Below are instructions to make sure your technology is ready for your Nepris online session. We use Zoom Cloud Meetings as our video tool. The first few pages will step you through the process of making sure Zoom is installed and your video and microphone work on your computer. The last page will reference mobile applications if you choose a mobile device. For all technical requirement for Zoom, visit: https://support.zoom.us/hc/en-us If you are unable to complete a step, email nepris@nepris.com to schedule a quick technology setup session to make sure you are prepared for your session. Only for a self-check, go to http://nepris.zoom.us. Join Meeting and input this session ID: 292 199 8348 Do not use this ID for your session. You will join all sessions through http://nepris.com. This is only for testing. Also, note that this is as shared meeting ID so you may run into other Nepris users testing their technology. TESTING SOUND 1 If not prompted with the box in Step 2, you can access this box by selecting Audio Options from the sound menu in the lower left hand corner of your window. The top two tabs allow you to choose between either joining via a phone or through the microphone and speaker within or attached to your computer. We highly recommend joining by computer if you can; the rest of the directions will assume a computer connection. 2 Click on the link for Test Computer Mic & Speakers Page 1
3 Follow directions and press Test Speakers You want to both see the sound register and hear some tones. If nothing registers or you cannot hear anything, make sure your volume is turned up. You can also select the pull down and see if there is another speaker option for your computer and try again. Press Stop to quit the test. 4 After you are done testing your speakers, make some noise. Talk to yourself. Does the sound register? If nothing registers, select the pull down and see if there is another microphone option for your computer and try again. 5 Make sure you check the box to Automatically join audio by computer when joining a meeting. TESTING VIDEO 1 After you are done testing your microphone, click on the Video tab. I you have closed the setting box, you can get to video settings by clicking on the video menu. Do you see yourself? 2 If nothing registers, select the pull down and see if there is another video option for your computer and try again. Common Issue Make sure all other applications that may use you camera are closed. This may include the software that came with your cameral. Page 3
Is your bandwidth quick enough? Slow bandwidth can cause latency, frozen screen, poor audio or getting disconnected. If you want to test your speed, go to http://www.speedtest.net/. Be sure your upload speed and download speed is consistently greater than 1.5 Mbps. If your test shows you are below this, email nepris@nepris.com and we can set up a test session to make sure everything works smoothly. Some Useful Features Full Screen Press ESC to get out of full screen mode. Muting This button will toggle between your microphone being on and off. Stopping Video This button will toggle between your camera being on and off. Sharing Your Screen This option allows you to share your screen if you want to present some slides, go to a website or any file on your computer. We recommend that when you use share your screen, you share your entire desktop (default option). Sharing Sound If you are sharing sound (e.g. video or music clip), click on the check box to share computer sound. Stop Sharing Your Screen Look for this bar floating on your screen. Click on the red Stop Share. If you are not talking to any visuals but directly to the class, you will want to stop sharng your screen. Page 4
A little about mobile apps There are mobile apps for ios and Android and you are welcome to use these as well. Search on Zoom Cloud Meetings within your respective marketplace. You will need to download the app before you can participate in a Nepris session. Unfortunately, there is no self test available with the mobile applications so if you haven t used a mobile device before with a Nepris session, please email nepris@nepris.com to schedule a quick technology setup session. Helpful Hints: You cannot share applications from ios. If you want to show slides, you can upload them to a web-based platform like http://slideshare.com and then input the Website URL on the Share menu. Below is an example of what slideshare.com will look like from an ios device. If you use mobile, take advantage of the front and back camera and think of ways to leverage the mobility (show something in real time form your office, assembly plant, warehouse, etc.) Mobile Desktop Page 5
