Your furniture was fully assembled in the shop prior to being dismantled for shipping. All the parts fit. The parts that go together have the same numbers written next to the predrilled holes they attach to. Please take the time to align the parts with the numbers. If you are forcing a bolt in, the part may be turned around or not aligned properly. Tap the bolt all the way into the wood to set it, then add a washer and lightly tighten. Don t over tighten or you will crush the redwood. Step 1: Frame legs ship mostly assembled, but closed as shown on left. To finish assembly, first open the frame legs as shown. Step 2: Attach 2 cross supports (9 - ½ and 5-6 ) to a frame leg, line up to match with the predrilled holes as shown. Use 10 x 3 / 8 carriage bolts, add washer and nut and lightly tighten. Repeat this step on the other frame leg. Step 3: Attach two 8-10 ¼ cross supports to the top of each frame leg with two carriage bolts, washers and nuts as shown below. Make sure the numbers written next to the predrilled holes on both pieces match.
Step 4: Insert 2 bolts (5 ½ x 3/8) to attach the top of the frame legs as shown below, and remove the top cross support: Remove this top cross support Step 5: Once both frame legs are assembled, place them on their sides to attach the square roof frame. Insert this piece between the frame leg boards as shown: Step 6: Attach the two smallest cross supports to the top of the frame legs with 2 carriage bolts, washers and nuts per support. Lightly tighten. Repeat on other side.
Step 7: Attach the main structural timber atop the top support braces of each frame leg to tie the swing structure together. To attach, use a 12 x 3 / 8 carriage bolt from above. Add washer and nut and lightly tighten. NOTE: If your swing comes with option steel beam, follow instructions placed at the end. Step 8: Attach the 4 face to face swing posts to the roof frame with one carriage bolt (6 ½ x 3/8 ), washer and nut per post. Step 9: Attach the floor to the 4 face to face swing posts with one carriage bolt (6 ½ x 3/8 ), washer and nut per post. Match the numbers written next to the predrilled holes on each piece.
Step 10: Attach bench seat to backrest with two carriage bolts (3 ½ x 5/16), washers and nuts per side. Then attach both armrest to backrest and both seat supports to the bench seat (one per side) with one carriage bolt, washer and nuts. Repeat this step to assemble the other swing bench. Step 11: Attach the swing bench assemblies to 2 posts each. Match the numbers written next to the predrilled holes on each piece. Use 3 ½ x 5/16 carriage bolts add a washer and nut and lightly tighten. Repeat for other side. Step 12: Attach the support timber to reinforce the connection between the frame legs and main structural timber. Use a 7 x 3 / 8 bolt, add a washer a nut and lightly tighten. Repeat to other side.
Step 13: Add the swing seats to the chain. First attach the 4 eyebolts on each swing seat. Then add the hardware provided to thread the eyebolt on one end and the chain on the other. Take a few minutes to adjust the chain height to your preference. We recommend you do not cut off the excess chain because you may want to readjust the heights later. Step 14: If it s being placed on a lawn or undeveloped surface it s a good idea to add a few inch deep layer of drainage rock under each post. This will keep the swing from settling into the ground over the years. Attach the chains into the swing hanging assembly already attached to the main support timber. The swings also come with optional set of springs. The springs attach from the swing hangers. Try them out. It softens the ride and is enjoyed by parents and adults. If the swing is mostly for kids & teens, skip the springs If the swings ever creak, add a dab of grease to the moving mechanism of the hanging hardware once and it will never creak again. Step 15: Attach triangular roof sides to the 8-10 ¼ cross support with 2 carriage bolts, washers and nuts each. Match the numbers written next to the predrilled holes on both pieces, align the holes and attach with bolts. Repeat to other side.
Step 16: Attach both roof panels to swing roof sides. Align the predrilled holes and attach with 2 carriage bolts, washers and nuts per side. Step 17: Attach the top board to both roof panels with deck screws to cover the gap between both panels.
We offer an optional steel beam support if the swing is to be used in a commercial or semipublic application (heavy use). It is not necessary for standard residential use (although a few of our residential orders also choose to add the beam). If your swing was ordered with the beam, the beam sits atop the main support timber and wraps partially around the front and rear. It attaches with eight bolts (5 x 5 / 16 ) to both the 6x6 main support timber and to the A- frames on either side. Thank you. If you have any questions, please call or email us.
