Xerox Nuvera 200/288/314 EA and 200/288 MX Perfecting Production System Jam Clearance Overview Clearing Paper Jams When a paper jam occurs, you can easily open doors to the paper path to easily clear the jam and continue the job. It is more desirable to prevent paper jams from occurring. Proper handling and storage of paper stocks will minimize jams. Refer to Xerox Nuvera User Guide and Training Aid CD for information on handling and storing paper. After all paper jams, you should always clear any paper from Area 5b and 6 of the two Print Engines. Check this area on both Print Engines and remove any paper before continuing to print. The FreeFlow Print Server provides a machine "mimic," or pictorial representation of the machine on the UI screen, depicting the location of the jam. Paper Jam Clearance Procedures You should follow the procedures for jam clearance as displayed on the FreeFlow Print Server. Refer to Xerox Nuvera User Guide and Training Aid CD for videos on Jam Clearance. Recurrent jams can be caused by: Improper closure of the baffles for the areas in which the jam status code is indicated Improper closure of the baffles for the surrounding areas in which the jam is occurring Running unsupported paper types Improper paper tray programming Poor quality paper loaded in the trays Tips for Recurring Jams Open and fully close all baffles back Into the original latched position in surrounding areas to the jam location. Check to make sure the paper loaded is a supported paper type. Check the tray programming to make sure the paper loaded matches the programming of the tray. Refer to Xerox Nuvera User Guide and Training Aid CD for videos showing how to clear Feeder Paper Jams and for information on how to set up Paper Trays.
Paper Feeder Jam Clearance Tip If you experience multi-sheet feed jams at any of the paper trays, make sure that the paper actually loaded in the tray matches what has been programmed in the user interface. It is especially important to properly program the paper weight and type to prevent jams and delays in printing. See Supported Paper Types. Tip If you load any type of drilled paper, to aid in sheet separation and to prevent jams, fan the reams before loading into the tray. Note Your equipment may vary from the model shown. For the two tray paper feed model, clear jams from area 1a and 2 only. Refer to Xerox Nuvera User Guide and Training Aid CD for videos showing how to clear Feeder Paper Jams.
Print Engine Jam Clearance Clearing Paper Jams Jam Area 3 Jam Areas Caution Be careful not to scratch the Photoreceptor when removing paper from area 3a. Special Notes about Area 3b Since this area uses a vacuum feed, pieces of paper can get stuck under the labeled area. Always look under the labeled area for stray pieces of paper. After sheets are cleared from areas 3a and 3b, firmly snap the lever back into its original locked position. Recurrent jams, or skewed output may occur if you do not press down firmly. Clearing Paper Jams Jam Area 4 Warning The Fuser area is Hot! Avoid touching any metallic surfaces and use caution when removing paper jams from fuser areas. Special Notes about Areas 4a and 4b Recurrent jams may indicate that pieces of paper remain in the paper path. Look carefully along the right underside of the Fuser Assembly for a folded or crumpled sheet. After clearing a jam, return the area 4a latch to the closed position. Close handle 4b until it locks (you will hear 2 clicks). Firmly push the Fuser Assembly back into the closed/locked position. Do Not Slam since slamming the fuser assembly may damage system components. Clearing in Multiple Areas Caution In the event of multiple jams in areas 3, 4 and 5, it is important to clear the jam areas in the following order: 3, 5, 4 (Fuser area), and 5b. If Fuser area 4 is opened before areas 3 and 5, any sheets of paper still in the paper path may be torn during opening. Dry Ink Bottle Developer Waste Dry Ink Waste
