CALL TO ORDER VILLAGE OF POSEN MINUTES OF A REGULAR MEETING OF THE VILLAGE PRESIDENT AND BOARD OF TRUSTEES OF THE VILLAGE OF POSEN HELD TUESDAY AUGUST 11th, 2015 AT 6:30 P.M. IN THE POSEN MUNICIPAL BUILDING President Donald W. Schupek called the Regular Meeting to order for Tuesday, August 11 th, 2015 at 6:30 P.M. in the Posen Municipal Building, 2440 W. Walter Zimny Drive, Posen, Illinois 60469. ROLL CALL Upon the Call of the Roll by Clerk Grabowski, President Donald W. Schupek, Trustees G. Torres, D. J. Schnering D. Niemeyer and R. Klapkowski were present. Absent were Trustees J. Casillas and A. Hulsey. Also in attendance were Village Attorney Peter Murphy, Police Chief Doug Hoglund, Fire Chief Kevin Szewczyk, Public Works Asst. Director of Water Jason Rhein and Treasurer Linda Arvia. PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE President Schupek led the Village Board and attending public in the recitation of the Pledge of Allegiance. RECORD OF THE PROCEEDINGS President Schupek called for a motion to approve the Minutes of the Regular Meeting held Tuesday, July 28th, 2015 as written. Trustee Torres moved, seconded by Trustee Schnering to accept them. All Trustees Voted Aye: motion was approved. FINANCE & ADMINISTRATION Chairman D.J. Schnering Trustee Schnering moved, seconded by Trustee Niemeyer to accept Warrant #7-15/16. All Trustees Voted Aye: motion was approved. Trustee Schnering directed the Clerk to read Resolution #2015-06, Authorizing the Village of Posen, County of Cook, State of Illinois, to Enter into a Demolition Contract between the Village of Posen and Pro Demolition, Inc. Attorney Murphy gave the following resume of the above Resolution. This Resolution authorizes the President and Village Board to enter into an Agreement with the lowest bidder chosen to demolish the property located 2415-2445 Walter Zimny Drive, Posen,IL. Pro Demolition, Inc. was the lowest bidder awarded the contract.
Attorney Murphy then asked if there were any questions, to which there were none. Trustee Schnering moved, seconded by Trustee Torres to approve Resolution #2015-06. All Trustees Voted Aye: motion was approved. COMMUNITY HEALTH & DEVELOPMENT - Chairman J. Casillas In the absence of Trustee Casillas, President Schupek directed the Clerk to give the following Code Enforcement Department Report: PUBLIC WORKS Chairman A. FIRE Chairman R. Klapkowski Trustee Klapkowski gave the following Fire Department Report for July 2015: Posen General Alarms: 9 Minor Alarms: 8 Total EMS Calls: 46 Fire Calls: 69 Total: 115 YTD: 739 Ambulance: $ 11,557.10 FYTD Amb$Collections: $ 34,727.38 Amb$Calendar YTD: $ 77,889.39 FYFire Recovery Claims: $ 2,383.99 Trustee Klapkowski turned the floor over to Fire Chief Kevin Szewczyk who made the following presentation: We would like to recognize two of our Firefighters who recently completed the Paramedic Training Program at St. Mary s Riverside in Kankakee. Both Firefighters earned over 45 college credit hours through Kankakee Community College attending class two days per week for the past twelve months for a total of 464 classroom hours and 503 Clinical hours in the hospital and in the field. They had to respond to over fifty Advance Life Support ambulance calls and had to make contact with 100 patients in both the hospital and on the street. They persisted through all of this with the requirement of maintaining a minimum of 80% in the class. Not only did they meet the minimum they were part of a class that collectively graduated with a class average score of 87%, a first for a class from the St. Mary s Program as well as only the 2 nd class to complete a brand new curriculum involving online based self-learning in addition to all the classroom hours. I am very proud of both of these firefighters and their accomplishments, so I ask the Board and the Public to join me in a round of applause for Firefighters Cesar Garcia and Janet Ramos. All present gave them a rousing hand of applause. Congratulations to these outstanding Firefighters who make the Posen Fire Department proud! Chief Szewczyk announced that a donation from a company that is based out of Mokena was received. They are Maxiforce G2 Air Lifting Bag Kits.
Several Firefighters from Posen were attending an extrication class with some people from Paratech who were in need of a junk truck to be cut up. Chief Szewczyk spoke to the Mayor and told him that Posen had a Public Works truck that was going to the junk yard to be salvaged. The Mayor gave permission to donate this truck to them. The Sales Person was so happy that we were able to help them out that they made the above donation which cost $11,500.00. The Firefighters brought in the bags to show to the Board and Public. POLICE Chairman G. Torres Trustee Torres gave the following Police Department Report for the month of July 2015: Parking Citations 98 Fees Collected Moving Citations 159 Report Copy Fees $30.00 Calls Answered 1,318 Tow Release Fees $10,550.00 Traffic Stops 101 MO Ordinance Fines $50.00 Felonies 3 Misdemeanors 36 Parking Ticket Collections Warrants 4 Police Department $5,315.41 Business Checks 415 Court Parking Tickets $3,750.00 MO Ordinance Tickets 25 Collections-Parking & MO Ordinance Total Vehicles Towed & Tickets $1,875.18 Impounded 29 Fines Received from Markham Court $3,796.59 Total Money Collected $25,367.18 Trustee Torres announced that Certificate of Appreciation Awards for Recognition of Commendable DUI Enforcement, Posen Police Department Alliance Against Intoxicated Motorists were given to the following Officers: Patrolman Christopher DeMato Sergeant Ryan Grab Patrolman Justin Pearce Patrolman Ryan Bartels Trustee Torres thanked the Fire Department and everyone who helped to make the National Night Out a huge success. President Schupek announced that Police Chief Doug Hoglund is back at work after having hip surgery. Welcome Back!
RECREATION Chairman D. Niemeyer Trustee Niemeyer gave the following Community Center Receipts for July Report: Registration: $1,590.00 Rental: $1,682.00 Deposit: $ 200.00 Dram: $ 400.00 Total: $3,872.00 Trustee Niemeyer also announced that the Monthly Calendar for the Community Center is posted on the bulletin board in the Lobby. OTHER President Schupek announced that water bills were sent out today and will be due on August 26 th, by 5:00 P.M. President Schupek also said he appreciated everyone who worked on National Night Out, it was very successful. This was the second year it was held and was very well attended. We received many compliments. The residents were very pleased. President Schupek complimented Chief Hoglund for his hard work in making it a success. Arranging for the helicopter and other things. OPEN TO THE PUBLIC A resident asked a question regarding the landscaping along 147 th Street. ADJOURNMENT President Schupek called for a motion to adjourn.
