EASY MUSIC THEORY NOTE- WHEN ONE FINGER IS PLACED ON ONE KEY OF THE KEYBOARD OR ONE FRET OF THE GUITAR WE GET A NOTE. WE USE NOTES TO PLAY THE MELODY OR ALSO KNOWN AS THE TUNE OF A SONG. NOTES ARE ALSO USED IN CERTAIN COMBINATIONS TO FORM CHORDS. CHORD - TWO OR MORE NOTES WHEN PLAYED TOGETHER IN A CERTAIN COMBINATIONSA CHORD IS FORMED. CHORDS ARE FORMED USING THE LEFT HAND ON THE KEYBOARD AND GUITAR. SCALE - 7 NOTES IN ASCENDING OR DESCENDING ORDER WITH THE FIRST NOTE REPEATED AS THE 8 TH NOTE. THE SIMPLEST SCALE IS THE C SCALE. C D E F G A B C scale. THE OTHER SCALES CAN BE FORMED BY USING A SIMPLE FORMULAR. TAKE THE 5 TH NOTE OF A SCALE AND CONTINUE WRITING THE NOTES TILL WE REACH THE 7 TH NOTE IN THE SCALE WHICH IS BEING FORMED. THIS NOTE NEEDS TO BE SHARPENED# SHARP-# -IT IS HALF A NOTE HIGHER THAN ANY GIVEN NOTE. FOR EXAMPLE IF C IS THE GIVEN NOTE THEN C# IS THE HALF NOTE HIGHER AND THIS CAN BE FOUND ON THE BLACK KEY ON THE RIGHT SIDE OF THE C NOTEON THE KEYBOARD OR IN THE CASE OF THE GUITAR IT WILL BE ON THE IMMEDIATE NEXT FRET.

FLAT-b -IT IS HALF A NOTE LOWER THAN ANY GIVEN NOTE. FOR EXAMPLE IF D IS THE GIVEN NOTE THEN Db IS THE HALF NOTE LOWER AND THIS CAN BE FOUND ON THE BLACK KEY TO THE LEFT SIDE OF THE D NOTEON THE KEYBOARD OR IN THE CASE OF THE GUITAR IT WILL BE ON THE IMMEDIATE PREVIOUS FRET. THE FOLLOWING FORMULAS WILL HELP IN THE FORMATION OF SCALES, CHORD FAMILY AND NOTES FOR A CHORD (MAJOR AND MINOR CHORDS) 1. TO FORM A SCALE WE TAKE THE 5 TH NOTE OF A SCALE AND CONTINUE WRITING THE NOTES TILL WE REACH THE 7 TH NOTE IN THE SCALE WHICH IS BEING FORMED. THIS NOTE NEEDS TO BE SHARPENED# 2. TO FORM A MAJOR CHORD WE TAKE THE 1 ST -3 RD -5 TH FROM A SCALE 3. TO FORM A MINOR CHORD WE TAKE THE 1 ST -3 RD FLAT -5 TH FROM A SCALE 4. TO FORM A 3CHORD FAMILY WE TAKE 1 ST -4 TH - 5 TH CHORD FROM A SCALE
