The Telegraph Key -.... / -..-... --..-..-.--.... / -.-. -.-- THE OFFICIAL DISPATCH FOR THE MAJOR THOMAS J. KEY CAMP #1920 KANSAS DIVISION, SCV JOHNSON COUNTY, KANSAS VOL. 18, NO. 1 Major Thomas J. Key Camp Officers SPECIAL EDITION The Commander s Corner Key Camp Collection Catalog Commander James D. Thornton 1st Lt. Commander John Weir 2nd Lt. Commander James L. Speicher Adjutant Steven Crawford Communications Officer Steven Crawford Historian and Scrapbook Dan Peterson Web Master John Weir Newsletter Editor John Kirchmeyer, Jr. Camp Chaplain Carl Linck Cadet Member Coordinator Lee Crutchfield Several years ago, the Major Thomas J. Key Camp, through purchase, consignment, and donation, came into possession of a collection of prints by several well-known artists of Civil War themes. These artists include Mort Kunstler and Dale Gallon among others. Over the years, we have placed some of the works up for auction at our Lee-Jackson Banquet, meetings, and other functions. This has provided a source of income for the camp and has generated significant funds over the years. As we are now down to just several pieces of art remaining, the decision was made to pay off the remaining consignment balance due to the estate of original ownership. The camp now owns the prints and artwork outright. I have decided to put together this catalog of the prints (and photo) remaining and make the remaining collection available all at once to the membership. As some of the prints were purchased or were on consignment, these will have a minimum price set and offers below that price will not be considered. If more than one offer is received, or more than one compatriot is interested in a piece, an auction will be held between the interested parties. Two of the works will be up for auction at the Lee-Jackson Banquet on January 28. These will be the photo of General Lee on Traveler (photo made from the original glass plate negative and numbered 199/1807 with certificate) and the Dale Gallon print Cause Defended in a silver metal frame (numbered 644/1950 with certificate). If you or someone you know is interested in one of the prints contained in this catalog, please use any of the following ways to contact me: Email: JDThornton85@live.com Home Phone: 913-441-1736 Cell: 816-516-7204 (text messages accepted)
