(Table 4 explains the inputs & outputs) LN- 5 - - - 1- Table 1 LN- 5 - - - 9 - Table 2 LN- 5 - - -BC - Table 2 LN- 5 - - -B6 - Table 2 LN- 5 - - - F - Table 2 LN- 5 - - -B7 - Table 3 LN- 5 - - -A7 - Table 3 LN- 5 - - -BA - Table 3 Step# 3 Verify the output by putting flow through the meter and monitoring the output. The Linear Link has been programmed at the factory with the calibration data for the meter. There is no need to reprogram the unit (unless instructed to by FTI). If there is no output from the Linear Link go to the troubleshooting guide at the end of this manual. Step# 4 You re done! The Linear Link is ready for use. This pin has a pulse output signal that corresponds to the linearized flow. Unscaled pulse output (5 Volt amplitude). This pin has the amplified output signal of the flowmeter before linearization. This is useful for monitoring the raw frequency generated by the flowmeter. It can also be used to inject a pulse for verifying calibrations. Pulse input (0-5 Volt amplitude, absolute max of 10V). This is the input pin for pulse input flowmeters. 0-10 Volt output. This pin provides an analog voltage output signal that corresponds to the linearized flowrate. 4-20mA output. This pin provides an analog milliamp output signal that corresponds to the linearized flowrate. Use only on units configured for current output. This output is locally powered and must be returned to the common pin not to a voltage source. TM-69313 Linear Link Quick Reference Manual Page 6 of 12
Visual Link Program Install/Set Up NOTE: The only time the Visual Link software should be used is to modify or rescale the Linear Link programming. It is not intended to be used as a troubleshooting tool. Step# 1 Download and install the software. Visual Link Software is available from the FTI website at www.ftimeters.com. Step# 2 Hook up the smart cable from the computer to the Linear Link. Smart Cable Part# 19-61348-104 is used on the pickoff version of the Linear Link (MS connector). Smart Cable Part# 19-61348-102 is used on all other Linear Link models (modular connector). Step# 3 Establish a connection with the Linear Link using the Visual Link Software Establish Communication Button on the Connection Status tab (circled below). TM-69313 Linear Link Quick Reference Manual Page 7 of 12
Step# 4 - Transfer the data from the Linear Link to the Visual Link software by clicking the read EPROM button (circled below). Once the button is clicked, press ok and the data will transfer. When the data is transferred click close button. Step# 5 Make any changes. Changes must be saved to the computer as a new.job file. Step# 6 Transfer the data to the Linear Link. The new information can be transferred to the Linear Link by clicking the transmit button (circled below). When completed click the close button. Changing Units for Mass Flow or Volumetric Step# 1 - Connect to the Linear Link as described on page 6. Step# 2 -Open the System Parameters tab Step# 3 - In the System Parameters tab, change the units where it indicates Flow Output Units. If changing the time base (minutes to hours) the K-Factor units will need to be changed. If time base remains the same then only the Flow Output Units will need to be modified. TM-69313 Linear Link Quick Reference Manual Page 9 of 12
Step# 4 - If the time base is changing, the K-Factor units will need to be changed. Select Configure on the toolbar and then select the Mechanical Parameters. Step# 5 - In the Mechanical Parameters screen; change the time base units only. Step# 6 - Save the job file and write it to the EPROM in the Linear Link. Editing, Saving & Loading Job Files Step# 1 - Connect to and transfer the data from the Linear Link as described on page 6. Step# 2 Save the data to a.job file. It is recommended to save the original data to a.job file before making any changes. This allows recovery if any mistakes are made. Step# 3 - Make the changes to the configuration. Once the changes are made, save the modified data to a new.job file. Step# 4 - Program the job information into the Linear Link EPROM (see page 8 for transferring data to the Linear Link ). Note: To obtain a copy of the original.job file, contact FTI @ 1-800-528-4225.. TM-69313 Linear Link Quick Reference Manual Page 11 of 12
