The product label logo preliminary version 4
The product label strategic focus High credibility through BRE and TNS Combine Responsible Sourcing certification and VinylPlus programme Combine a label (marketing and communication) with a verified technical audit (credible technical format), Independent scheme, third party verification audits Focus on converters, adress upstream products in a second step Concentrate first on building and construction / GPP Use exisiting EU standards, self declared label with external verification, the industry stays in control Use the expertise of BRE to integrate and shortcut learning Create a learning element, the criteria scheme as a moving target Build around the term Sustainable development, not yet covered in a label / certification by any other group, but receiving high attention Create a maximum of synergy with existing industry schemes 5
Target 1: Increase programme visibility 6
Why a product label programme visibility Increase visibility of VinylPlus along the value chain Walk our talk, demonstrate our commitment You can see it on products, a positive approach Facilitate Pro-PVC decisions in procurement / prescribers GPP is becoming SPP, we have the right answer Game changer to reach critical audience again, build trust Find a suitable way to go back and communicate with brand owners / local authorities who deselected PVC 7
Target 2: Attract companies to join VinylPlus 8
Why a product label more companies to join Attract other converters/downstream actors to join Encourage and reward VinylPlus partnership efforts Stimulate further sustainability progress and innovation Again we pioneer and lead the way Stimulate the pull market approach and increase recycling Visualize value of more sustainable solutions 5 to 10 years ago EPD were not on many people`s horizon. Today the European verified EPD (EN 15804) is becoming relatively common. A similar thing may occur with responsible sourcing and sustainable procurement labelling. Derek Hughes BRE 9
