To All Members, From the President Our 2012-13 season is coming to a successful end. We are now winners in 3 categories within the PFLI competition BWA, CPA and Creative. Thank you creative photographers, your originality gave us an additional category to the usual BWA and CPA. I would like to take this opportunity to thank all members who helped me in my first year as president to make this a successful year. First and always is Dick Hunt who, with his great knowledge and insight, keeps us all on the path to success. It takes quite a few helpers to get prepared and ready for each competition event. Thank you to the team that always makes it happen from getting the equipment ready, to logging the photos, to presenting them to the judges. Thank you to the two ladies who organize and keep the members list updated. Our treasurer keeps the money safe and organizes two dinners a year. Many thanks to my special adviser who, with his experience, is always ready to give me advice and moral support. Lee Levine, who moved to Florida two years ago, managed the web site and published the Flash each month. He is now ready to travel more and therefore will pass on these duties to other members of our club. Thank you Lee for being a great editor and web master. I will miss you and your professionalism. I wish you all a good Summer with many opportunities to take great pictures. I am looking forward to seeing all of you and your excellent work in the Fall. ON the COVER The cover of each edition of The Flash will showcase a photograph taken by a member of the Wantagh Camera Club Wantagh Camera Club March Digital Image of the Month Woodpecker Looking for Food by Adolfo Briceno Heide THE FLASH 2 June 2013

Trip to PA Philadelphia Zoo and the Eastern State Penitentiary 05/04/13 Since an early start in any photographic mission is essential, a group of 4 started the trip at 6AM with Dick as leader and driver. We arrived around 8:30AM at the Philadelphia Zoo where we connected with Marty and 2 of his friends. Our main goal was to photograph the Cheetahs, who gave us such great opportunities on our last visit to this zoo. On this visit however, they were not visitor-friendly and hid behind a shed. We had some opportunities with the tigers and orangutans. After lunch, at the zoo, we made our way to the penitentiary. There, everybody scouted around according to their own likings. After we accomplished our goals and covered all the best locations we started our way back home around 3:30 PM. Thank you Dick for another well planned and successful trip.
