Keckley, Ph.D. Career Focus: Expert on health system transformation Career History: Current: Managing Editor, The Keckley Report (2006-present) The Keckley Report is a weekly blog focused on health reform and industry trends of significance to providers, payers, device and drug manufacturers, policymakers and retail health organizations. It s delivered each Monday morning and circulated among managers and trustees in these organizations and included in the curriculum of several academic institutions schools of business, medicine, nursing, health administration and public health. Its scope is global spanning drug and device manufacturers, regulators and government agencies, retail health, hospitals and insurers. Its team of researchers produces the weekly Monday Memo on Health Reform in addition to annual surveys of U.S. employers, physicians and consumers. I served as its Executive Director and Executive Editor from its founding to June, 2014. I was recruited to this role by HHS Secretary Tommy Thompson, Founding Chairman of the Center. Peer reviewed research and publications with funding from the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality (AHRQ) re: core beliefs of US healthcare consumers, medical management practices in commercial health plans, adherence to evidence-based practices and industry consolidation Independent Director and Interim Chairman & CEO, InterDent Inc., El Segundo CA (1996-1999) InterDent (aka Gentle Dental) was a $400 million publicly traded dental practice Management Company that owned dental practices in 8 states with 400 locations. I became an Independent Director at the request of the company s investors. Subsequently, the board terminated the CEO, elected to take the company private, and asked me to manage the conversion from public to private ownership. In 18 months, I successfully converted the company s shareholder equity to subordinated debt, delisted the company; reconstituted its board and recruited a new management team. President and Chief Executive Officer, PhyCor Management Corporation, Nashville TN (1993-1996) Founder and Chief Executive of the IPA Management Inc. later acquired by PhyCor Inc. in 1994. I secured initial venture funding, operationalized its IPA services involving capitated agreements with insurers in 11 markets contracted through 60 physician IPAS that managed 1.1 million lives.
