NICHOLEVAN S WORKFLOW ACTION SET This document provides an overview of the actions this set contains and what the purpose and function of each is. Please note that this action set includes the following list of actions, as well as the Essential BW and Color Pop sets (which are NOT listed here). You can see a list of the actions in those sets on my website: www.actions.nicholev.com PURPOSE Overall, the purpose of this workflow set is to streamline your time spent proofing actions. It uses Photoshop s automation and batching functions to proof your client files, prep them for printing and convert and prep them for web proofing. This action set will automatically allow you run any number of chosen actions on large groups of photos, freeing you from the repetitive tasks of preparing and presenting images to your clients. This action set will require you to read the help files and do some prep work in order to use the actions and functions to their fullest potential. This set contains the following actions: ACTION Soft Pop + Exposure Balance Essential BW + Exposure Balance PURPOSE This action gently saturates color and provides a gentle pop. It s perfect for just about every photo and usually you don t need to paint back the skin tones. This version of the action also helps you to balance the exposure of the image before running the action. This action also loads a layer that will allow you to turn the photo BW just by turning on the layer. This action is not meant for use with Photoshop s automation tools. This is the essential BW action from my BW set. The only difference is that this version of the action also helps you to balance the exposure of the image before running the action. BATCH PROOFING Run Batch Proofing/Leave Open Run Batch Proofing/Save and Close Create Custom Proofing Action Noise Reduction Soft Color Pop Soft Color Pop Brighter Standard BW Soft Filter/Glamour Selective Sharpening Workflow Light Sharpen The actions under the Batch Proofing heading are meant to be used to proof a group of photos all at once. These actions will open a folder of images in any format other than RAW, run the actions that you want, and then save out the file in either.psd,.tif or.jpeg format or leave it open for you to tweak. runs your chosen action and then leaves the file open in Photoshop for you to tweak. runs your chosen action and then saves the file in your chosen format and closes it. This is an action that will help you create a custom proofing action. This will show you how to daisy chain together several actions together to get the results that you want for your proofing. This action uses Photoshop s built in noise reduction filter to reduce the noise in your image. This is the basic soft color pop for batching. This version of the action will leave the exposure of your image the same; it will not brighten or darken your image, though it will vignette the edges. This action also loads a layer that will allow you to turn the photo BW just by turning on the layer. This version of the soft color pop will brighten your image slightly, as most images are somewhat underexposed out of camera. It will also add a vignette to the edges. This action also loads a layer that will allow you to turn the photo BW just by turning on the layer. This is a version of the Essential BW action that has been tweaked for batching. It will not change the overall exposure of the image. This action softens the overall photo creating a dreamy, glamour look. You can also use this action to reduce the appearance of wrinkles and pores on skin. This action is similar to my selective sharpening action, as it allows you to just selectively sharpen part of your image. It is not best for batching, but will run in a batch if you would like. Ideally, this action would be run manually as you tweak the images. This is a high pass sharpen action that works great to gently sharpen images before printing. It is meant to be run with a batch, though it will work just fine on its own.
