PORTLAND CHAPTER CONSTRUCTION SPECIFICATIONS INSTITUTE BOARD OF DIRECTORS MEETING MINUTES May 5, 2015 CALL TO ORDER: The meeting was called to order by President Cherise Schacter in Conference Room B, 8 th floor, Columbia Square Building. A quorum was present. TREASURER S FINANCIAL REPORT: See attached. The picture is skewed a bit because monies have been received for the Industry Forum next week, but most expenses have not yet been paid. Still waiting for funds to come from Institute. John Lape is ready to do the financial review, he has access and should be done by the end of the month COMMITTEE REPORTS: BOARD COMMITTEE REP Certification Kathy Education / Lecture Series Share Groups Jake COMMENT 5/5 Four CDT students passed. Possibly promote scholarships for the advanced certifications only in the fall (class in the spring is a better fit for new/young candidates. 5/5 April roundtable on roofing was almost sold out. This series has been very successful! Classes will run in the summer. Considering a class/monthly meeting combo next fall. Alexander 5/5 Still planning the event on sealants with Tremco.. Emerging Professionals Alicia 5/5 No news.

Ellen will organize a CSI booth at Industry Forum (Jaci will order the booth from Institute, Erica will print flyers and membership forms) April Lloyd District with a panel talking about the Lloyd Center project. 67 signed up. May Industry Forum June Chili Cook-off/Awards/Member Appreciation at the Lucky Lab, 1945 NW Quimby. July - Scavenger hunt or??? August Golf Tournament September Looking for a tour location 5/5 No news. Students and Scholarships Chris / Kathy 5/5 No news. Archives Skip 5/5 Need to set a date. Awards Chris 4/7 - Committee has decided to submit two awards - Outstanding Chapter Commendation (due July 15) Communications award (May 1). 5/5 Working on Chapter Commendation award. Nominations Chris 5/5 Congratulations to Tony (re-elected), Marty Houston and Leslie Case as new Board members. By-Laws and Operations Guide Skip/ Corey 4/7 - No news Strategic Partners/Liaison Ellen 5/5 Ellen went to the Design/Build Event and invited the leader to the Industry Forum. Chili Cook-off Tim 3/3 Location secured event will be at the Lucky Lab OLD BUSINESS: Funding for conferences 10/7 All of the money allotted for CONSTRUCT 2014 was used. $3,939 remains in the budget for future conferences. All those that qualify for

(according to our new conference reimbursement policy) and are interested in attending any of the upcoming conferences must email the board 30 days before the early bird discount closes. This will allow the board to determine how many are interested and make decisions on who will attend based on available funds. Upcoming conferences are as follows: 4/16-4/18 CSI Academies, San Francisco (no date avail yet) 5/13-5/16 Tri-Region Conference, San Diego (early bird 2/15/14) 9/30-10/3 CONSTRUCT 2015 (reg opens mid-may) 5/18-5/22/2016 Bi-Region conference, Lake Tahoe (next FY) 11/4 CSI Academies and Tri-Region Conference are coming up. Interested parties need to let Cherise know if they are interested by December 31. 12/2 Erica and Ali possibly interested in going to Region conference. Cherise will be going to Construct as a presenter. 1/6 - Cherise, Ellen, Kathy, Chris, Erica, Linda and Lee have expressed interest in Region Conference. Ellen and Cherise will make their arrangements to identify how much money will be left for others to go. Cherise, Jake, Ali and Linda have expressed interest in CSI Academies (Cherise will probably be paid by Institute for presenting) 2/3 Academies: Cheap flights to San Francisco - Cherise / Jake / Ali will look into it. Cherise is being covered - Jake and Ali have approximately $1000 that Portland Chapter CSI will pay. Tri Region Conference: Approximately $2500 left to pay for Kathy / Chris / Erica. Dodge is paying for approximately half of Ellen's Between $500-1000 short if Lee doesn t go Depending on final expenses. 3/3 Academies: Jake and Ali will not be attending. Cherise's trip will be funded by National. This frees up some funds for the Tri Region Conference, estimating $500 for each of four people (Kathy, Chris, Erica and Lee). 4/7 Only Cherise going to CSI Academies. $2,800 for Tri-Region conference. Linda is going on her own. Membership Survey 9/2 Jaci will talk with Alicia about questions the Programs Committee wants to ask. Chapter YouTube Channel 4/7 A survey will be sent out at the end of May. Ellen would like to tie this to the Industry Forum post-event attendee survey. 5/5 Survey going out tomorrow. 11/4 Ali and Jake have created a new YouTube Channel for the Chapter meetings. For now, Alexander will share the native files with Ali to be able to post them there. The IF Committee will discuss maintaining the separate IF Channel. 12/2 In progress 1/6 Alexander gave the thumb drive with the only original file to Jake to

hand off to Ali. NEW BUSINESS: Region Conference Report Annual Report Annual Planning Session President s Message 5/5 Erica will send the forms to Cherise for an annual report from the Chapter to be presented at Region Conference. 5/5 Corey will begin preparing an Annual Report for presentation at the Annual Planning Session 5/5 Scheduled for June 17, 2015 from 12:00 to 4:00. 5/5 Cherise shared her recent experience speaking at the Irrigation Consultants national conference in Minneapolis, and how much awareness of CSI such an effort can bring. She encouraged us all to seek opportunities outside our regular circle of influence to talk about CSI.
