STAGES Science and Technology Advancing Governance and Good Environmental Status (FP7-ENV.2012.6.2-5) DEVOTES Kick off meeting
The project STAGES (7FP ENV 2012) Science and Technology Advancing Governance and GES Identify and synthesize the information from MSFD research projects Develop a Science/Policy Platform to channel the knowledge from EU science and Technology to relevant end users 2012-2014
Specific objectives Identify and synthesize the knowledge generated through EU and national research funded activities with relevance to MSFD objectives and make it widely accessible to policy and decision makers and to MSFD stakeholders To identify needs for further research to improve the scientific underpining for the implementation of the MSFD Provide concrete, pragmatic and ready to use recommendations of an effective European science policy platform to support the implementation of MSFD

STAGES & DEVOTES MSFD knowledge: generated through national and EU research projects (WP2), a collaboration with DEVOTES could be established in the identification to key contact persons, organizations, national projects. MSFD gaps: will organize 3 Workshops in i) monitoring programmes, ii) pressures and impacts and iii) Socio-economic analysis. DEVOTES partners working on the areas addressed by the Workshops could be invited to participate in the Workshops and in addition to contribute with their specific scientific expertise on the subjects dealt with, they could inform and update on DEVOTES outcomes. MSFD stakeholders: A fluent and frequent information flow could be established from the very beginning to put in common information on relevant MSFD stakeholders and to explore the interest/feasibility of joint actions (workshops).
