About IIT(ISM) Indian Institute of Technology (Indian School of Mines) is the premier institute of the country, set up by Government of India. Societal aspirations and technological challenges have made the academic profile of the institute to evolve over time. What started as an institution to impart Mining and Earth Science education has graduated into a fullfledged technical institution of international acclaim, offering a host of undergraduate and postgraduate courses. The admissions to the different programs are through IITJEE examination. Moulded with active involvement in Research and Development, Industrial Consultancy and Testing, a strong academic structure has been the forte of the institute. This has enabled the institute to make immense contributions to the nation's progress over the last 91 years. Mining Machinery Engineering Department The Department offers four year degree course in Bachelor of Technology in Mining Machinery Engineering and two year degree courses in Master of Technology in Mining Machinery Engineering and Mine Electrical Engineering. Mining Machinery Engineering course is an interdisciplinary branch of engineering that applies the principles of mechanical engineering, electrical engineering and mining engineering for analysis, design, manufacturing and maintenance of mining and construction equipment. It includes study of various aspects of equipment used in earthmoving, mineral processing, bulk material handling, drilling etc. MENTCA '18
About MENTCA 18 Global Mining Industry is increasingly taking up the mantle of being a hightech industry. The technology lag to be bridged through espousal of the stateoftheart equipment available. Mining industry is gearing up of itself based on new technology and a modern work organisation that support methods of mining, high productivity and better working environment. There is need for a new holistic vision for the mines of the future. With this background, Dept. of Mining Machinery Engineering, IIT(ISM), is organizing a National Conference on Mining Equipment: New Technologies, Challenges and Applications, MENTCA 18 during 910 February, 2018. Objective: The objective of the seminar is to provide a common platform for the management personnels, practising engineers, faculty, research officers, students, scientists and executives from manufacturing units, consulting firms, sales and service to deliberate on new technologies, challenges and practices of modern mining equipment. The objective of the conference is also to provide a forum for exchange of ideas, experiences and methodologies for the advancement in technologies necessary for innovation in mining equipment. The conference will focus on recent advancements in this field and provide technical inputs for further innovation. Who should attend the Conference: The conference aims at welcoming all the researchers, faculties and industry professionals from mining and construction industries. Theme for the Conference: The theme stresses on bridging of all communities of experts for improving research and innovation and sustaining knowledge for the advancement in technology of mining equipment. It will create an environment of bringing together the academicians, people from industries, persons from R&D, researchers and students on a common platform to share their ideas and experience for the innovative development of mining equipment.
