SYLLABUS For the trade of CAD-CAM OPERATOR CUM PROGRAMMER UNDER Apprenticeship Training Scheme Government of India Ministry of Labour & Employment Directorate General of Employment & Training New Delhi-110001

GENERAL INFORMATION Name of the Trade : CAD-CAM Operator-cum- Programmer N.C.O. Code No. : 3121.20 Entry Qualification : Passed 10 th class examination under 10+2 system of education or its equivalent. Duration of the Apprenticeship Training : 02 years Rebate allowed in Apprenticeship Training : One year and six months for trainees completed Broad Based Basic Training in Production and Manufacturing Sector under Centre of Excellence Scheme and Advanced module of Centre of Excellence Scheme in CAD/CAM. Ratio of apprentices to workers other than : 1:2 unskilled workers Course Outline : The training shall comprise of a) On the job training The actual training shall be dependend on the facilities available in the establishment, with an idea to expose the trainees to as many activities as possible. The trainees shall maintain a daily work dairy for on the job training, which shall be periodically authenticated by the supervisor. b) Project Each apprentice shall under take a project in any of the areas depending on her interest and facilities available in the establishment. The duration of the project shall be two Weeks.

Shop Floor Training No. 1 Installation and reinstallation of Software. 2 Installation of AutoCAD 2006 or latest. 3 Draw H,L,S,T and C, etc shapes with respective actual product of respective industry 4 Practice on draw Menu commands like Line, Circle, Polygon, Arc, Ellipse, Spline, MText etc 5 To draw simple figures using draw commands 6 Practice on different Dimensioning commands. 7 To draw Complex Orthographic Figures & Dimensioning them properly. 8 Practice on editing Commands Practice on View Commands. Practice on Formatting Commands & Drawing consisting of above commands. 9 Practice on Drafting settings. Insert different designs in drawing using Design Centre, Tool Pallets & drawing consisting of above commands. 10 Practice to draw Simple & Complex Isometric Drawings. 11 Practice to draw 3D like Box, Sphere, Cone, Wedge, Cylinder, etc. 12 To draw Simple & Complex 3D Solid Models. 13 Practice on Rendering commands. Plotting the 2D &3D Drawings. 14 Installation of Master CAM. Working on Master CAM. 15 To open & Save files. Importing & Exporting files in other formats. Changing units. 2D Creation commands. Create simple solids using line, circle, arc, fillet, chamfer, etc. commands. Practice on Modifying X-form Commands. Practice on dimension. Analyzing command. Working on levels & attributes. 16 Basic of G-View. C-Plane & construction depth. Basic of Wire frame modeling. Creating Box shape & creating different shapes in all the 6 faces. X-form translate join option. Exercise in wire frame modeling. 17 Surface Modeling Basics Flat boundary creation. Loft & Ruled surface creation, Revolve surface, Sweep surfaces, Net Surfaces, Offset Surfaces, etc. Editing & Trimming of surfaces. Creating curves, view Manipulation. Draw various jobs in Surface Modeling. 18 Practice on Solid Modelling commands like Extrude, Revolve, Sweep, Loft, Fillet & Chamfer. Solid editing Command. Solid to surface & surface

Back plotting, solid verification, Program Generation.Exercise on 2d Milling. 21 Creating simple to complex jobs operation by using all type of machine tools, preparation of part program for turning, milling & EDM wire cut, etc. 22 & 23 Practice on part programming by actual data transfer from computer to CNC MACHINE. Feedback from actual result, analysis of outcome & correction. 24 Use of Robotics on Man-less machines, preparation of part program or robotics machining, loading & unloading. 25 Project on CAD-CAM containing Solid/ Surface Modelling, Machining& CNC Interface. 26 Project on CAD-CAM containing Solid/ Surface Modelling, Machining &CNC Interface.

Concept of CAD. Latest Software used or CAD. 2) Need & importance of AutoCAD. Comparison between conventional drawings. Drawings in AutoCAD, Features of AutoCAD. Latest versions of AutoCAD, advancement in versions. Hardware requirement for installing AutoCAD 2007 & Installation of CAD. 3) Study of U.C.S. co-ordinate system. i) Actual Cartesian System ii) Relative Cartesian System iii) Actual Polar System iv) Relative Polar System To draw H, L, S, T, C, etc. shapes using UCS Systems 4) Study to draw Menu commands like Line, Circle, Polygon, Arc, Ellipse, Polyline, Multi-line, Text. Study to draw figures using draw commands. 5) Study of Modify commands. Like Copy, Offset, Move, Array, Trim, Mirror, Extend, Rotate, Scale, Break, Fillet, Chamfer, Erase, etc. Study to draw simple figures like CAM, GASKET, etc. using modify commands. 6) Study of different Dimensioning Commands. Like Dim Style, Quick, Linear, Aligned, Radius, Diameter, Angular, Leader, Baseline, Continuous, Ordinate, Tolerance, Oblique, etc. Study to draw complex orthographic figures & dimensioning them properly. 7) Study of different editing Commands. Like Undo, Redo, Cut, Copy, Paste, Select all, etc. Study of different view commands like: Layers, line type, line weight, colors. Dimension Style, Units, Drawing Limits, etc. Study of Formatting Commands. 8) Study of Drafting settings like SNAP, GRID,ORTHO, POLAR, OSNAP, OTRACK, etc. Study of commands in Tools Menu like Inquiry, Design Centre, Tool Pallets, Options.

9) To draw Isometric Drawings. Settings required to draw Isometric Drawings. Concept of Isoplane, Isocircle. 10) Concept of 3D. Difference between 2D & 3D. Concept of Solid Modelling. Study to draw 3D like Box, Sphere, Cone, Wedge, Clinder,etc. 11) Study to create 3D solids by Extrude, Revolve command. Boolean commands like Union, Subtract, Intersect. 12) Rendering commands. Layouts & paper settings. Plotting the 2D& 3D Drawings 13) MasterCam Introduction MasterCam interface like Pull Down Menu & Icons, Auto Cursor & settings. General selection menu, Ribbon bar menu View manager, MRU (Most recently used functions) 14) Opening other CAD-CAM files in Master CAM & saving Master CAM files in other formats.
