During our design process, focus was kept on providing a low profile approach in order to minimize structural interference between machine movement and the operator s set-up. In addition, it was vitally important to design products that help maintain holding accuracy of your part without sacrificing the ability to keep high rigidity in the set-up. Ram Precisions patented tooling incorporates these vital requirements by having a base with less components and by utilizing solid adapters. Using this approach, there are less links that can cause movement and loss of accuracy. With our system, you can move from a rigid rail bridging your machine to a vise or V block system mounted off the main base to hold your parts. RWT-BASE Our system was specifically designed to allow the operator to load and unload quickly. With a base mounted to your machine table, a fixture can be fastened with your workpieces allowing for fast, yet accurate, repeatability. Quick. Easy. Cost-effective. LEVELING INSTRUCTIONS These instructions are very important and Critical To The Saefety of the Adapter! When mounting the work piece, be sure to have both the fixture and the work piece on your surface plate. make sure the adapter is off the plate so your work is flush and level to the bottom of your fixture. if these steps are not taken, you may overtighten screw A (see illustrations below) resulting in excessive stress on your pivot point. This can cause cracking that is not covered under our warranty. How to Use the Leveling Head 1. Loosen screws B, 1 and 2. 2. By turning screw A you will be adjusting the tilt in the X direction. Turn screw A clockwise to lift the end of the part away from the adapter. Counter clockwise turns will lower the farther surface. Once this is in tolerance, snug screw B to lock the setting. 1 3. Tighten screw 1 or 2 (which ever one is on the higher side) until you have the Y direction true. Then snug the opposite screw to lock this setting. 1 B 2 A Y X B 2 A 4
3 LEVELING ADAPTERS Always Adapting to Client Requests Our leveling adapters are designed with the same reliable functionality as our solid adapter line-up. Ram adapters enable the operator to indicate work pieces s true and ready, while allowing for a quick change in and out of the main base or dovetail referencing system. For proper use of the leveling system with the leveling adapter mounted to the fixture the adapter is kept OFF of the surface plate, while your fixture and work piece remain flat ON the surface plate for clamping. This assures that your workpiece is flush and parallel to the bottom of your fixture and the perfect start for proper leveling. This also helps prevent the operator from over-tightening the leveling adjustments that could cause damage to the adapter itself. 5 Close Tolerances. Fewer Rejected Pieces. Ram Tooling has a range of patented Vises available, in a variety of sizes and formats. The design of our movable jaw allows for clamping pressure to draw the workpiece to the alignment surface without tilt during the clamping process. True location is always assured. The solid structure of the stationary jaw functions like an angle plate holding your part square. RWT-SVA RWT-SVB The RWT-LVB vise comes complete with an insert that can be flipped to apply pressure at an angle, to better hold round parts into the reference corners. Our lineup also includes a 1 vise that will accommodate soft jaws (RWT-LVC) that can be wired to suit odd-shaped parts. The drive screw on our vises are plated with a WCC coating which increases hardness and lubricity. For proper use and care of the clamping, a torque wrench is offered and recommended. RWT-Rail-A Increase Machine Capacity. Minimize Set-up Time. Ram Precision Tool has done it we ve crafted an American-made, high-quality tooling system which allows the operator to easily switch from adapter set-ups to rails in just minutes! By clamping the main base unit first then the alignment base second, a stop-edge is quickly set-up on your rail. This allows the operator to easily clamp parts off the machine on the surface plate, and then proceed to move it back against the machine with a high degree of accuracy. RWT-RAIL PL RWT-RAIL VISE We have also designed a large, adjustable vise system (RWT-RAIL VISE) that mounts to the teeth side of the rail. This vise system assists in holding larger parts while maintaining necessary rigidity. A variety of Adapters (see page 2) are available that allow linking of Ram s precision fixtures to the reverse side of the Rail System. The Ram Rail Tooling System is designed with 8mm tapped holes in the side and top surfaces, allowing the operator to attach their set-up with bolts and straps (supplied with most machines), thus enabling a very large variety of parts to be held in place. To correctly size your rail you will need to measure from 8mm mounting holes in one side of the machine to the other side. V block fixtures allow you to hold multiple small parts against a single, large piece mounted to a rail system. This line-up of fixtures are best suited for production operations on machines that use autothreaders. In addition, these fixtures are directly mounted to the machine table with full leveling ability a concept that helps our custom production fixtures stand above the rest. RWT-10VL Using our main base and solid adapter, we have designed small custom pallets for holding multiple, smaller parts or individual larger parts mounted to our matched pair, solid adapters. This unique set-up allows the operator to reset one fixture (or small pallet) while another one is burning. Our adjustable V height fixture allows the operator to reference round or rectangular parts in two different heights. Large Starter ViSe Kits Large Starter Kit A RWT-LVA RWT-AD4RL RWT-DT RWT-TORQ8 This kit is build around the dovetail rail and features solid and leveling adapters that fit this rail system. Included in the kit are the 1 thick vise that is equipped with more than 8 inches of opening capacity. When mounted to the leveling adapter, it provides leveling ability, if required. The solid stationary jaw provides better repeatability without having to repeat the leveling process. Also included are the dovetail strip and torque wrench for vice use. The vice body is 1.25 thick, with a 1.25 deep jaw and is of the same high-quality contrustion as our other vices complete with our plated drive screw. Our drive screws feature an extremely hard surface and maintained lubricity, resulting in a durable, long-lasting screw with smooth action.
