Every wall run requires support. To ensure safe, supported and stable configurations Vivo Interiors partial height walls must be supported properly and at appropriate intervals. All support requirements for the Vivo System should be used carefully: When designing and specifying When installing components and equipment When reconfiguring workstations during the life of the facility Support consideration for wall-height support The following consideration are critical for determining proper support when using support walls, wall starts, open return frames and support pedestals: Height of wall run (highest frame or highest combination of regular and stacking frames) Length of wall run and frequency of support Number and type of load-bearing components being supported Height of support Placement and width of support While they are listed here in the sequence in which support decisions are usually made. All of these support considerations are interdependent: Changing one of them to meet certain needs may affect the requirements for the others. For example, while a 10 run of 57 -high frames allows a maximum of two load bearing components per frame if the length of the wall run is reduced. This ability to adjust one factor to compensate for another allows designers and specifiers to meet users specific needs for privacy, space and amount of storage. The first four considerations (the height of the wall run, the length of the wall run and frequency of support, the number and types of load bearing components being supported, and the height of support) are covered in the Vivo planning guide. The considerations related to the placement and width of support are summarized later in this section. Exceptions or additional details are contained in the sections covering each consideration. 2013 Herman Miller, Inc. eeland, Michigan. Printed in the U.S.A. Proper Support for Non-load Bearing 90 Degree Wall Runs Type of Support Wall runs must be supported at both ends by an architectural wall or a support wall. Spine Wall Height of Support Wall Must be no more than 22 lower than the height of the wall run. Support Wall Height of Run Frames and Stacking Frames can be up to 90 high, with no more than 22 difference in height between adjacent frames. Width of Support Wall Wall runs up to 4 long require 42 return walls. Wall runs greater than 4 and up to 14 require 48 return walls. Wall runs up to 14 can also be supported by two support walls (one on each side of the connector) with a minimum width of 24. Support Wall Length of Run Maximum length of run is 14 between supports. Proper Support for Load Bearing 90 Degree Off Module Connection Spine Wall Height of Run Off Module Wall Frames and Stacking Frames can be up to 90 high, with no more than 33 difference in height between adjacent frames. up to 33 Height off Module Wall Off Module Wall must be no more than 33 lower than the height of the spine wall run. up to 90 Width of Support Width must match or exceed the depth of the deepest component on the Off Module wall run on both ends of the off module wall. Note: Off module connections cannot be used at both ends of an off module wall run. 2013 Herman Miller, Inc. eeland, Michigan. Printed in the U.S.A. Y, and Canvas Office Landscape are among the registered trademarks of Herman Miller, Inc. Support Wall Length of Run Maximum length of run is 8 between end supports, unless you use mid-run support. Load bearing wall runs support load bearing and non-load bearing components. 11
Disassembly for Recycling: Materials Identification and Segregation: Where possible, plastic components are marked with ASTM recycling codes. Use these codes to identify material type for recycling. Non marked components should be treated as mixed plastic. Ferrous metals can be identified using a small magnet for recycling. Non-ferrous metals should be separated and recycled separately. To disassemble product, reverse the above installation steps. 2013 Herman Miller, Inc. eeland, Michigan. Printed in the U.S.A.
