Bible Basics Make & Take For 4 s and 5 s SEPTEMBER, OCTOBER, NOVEMBER, 2014 Write the names of learners on the outside cover of the make and take books. Have extra books for visitors. If a child is absent, take or mail his leaflet and make and take page to him. Show learners how to fold the project page on the perforated line and pull gently to tear it out. Keep tape handy to repair a rip now and then, but enjoy the sense of satisfaction they show by doing it themselves. The sticker pages are in the center of this book. Children will enjoy adding their own stickers to the projects. Always make a sample project before class to show learners what they will make. Lesson 1 September 7, 2014 God Made the World Provide crayons, watercolor markers or other art supplies to color the picture on the front of the page. Discuss the picture there. What do learners see? Where are the clouds? Remove the cloud sticker to add to the dotted area. Where are the trees? Where are some rocks? Where is the water? Remove the other sticker to add to the water area. Guide learners through the activity on the back. Lesson 2 September 14, 2014 God Made the Plants Talk about God s creation shown in the picture. Let learners take turns naming something God made. Read the Scripture verse. Then remove the three stickers to add to this page. Each child may add the stickers to the picture where he chooses. Provide marking pens for learners to draw other plants and trees. September 21, 2014 God Made the Animals Have learners color the pictures on the project. Then follow instructions printed on the project. They will guide you through the steps to complete it. Have a sample done. Allow learners who can write their own names to do so on the envelope holding the puzzle. Lesson 4 September 28, 2014 God Made People Learners will enjoy the creation booklet formed with this project. Provide crayons for learners to color the pictures. Follow directions on the project page for making it. Show learners how to trim around the outer margins of the page. Then cut apart on the solid line and fold on dotted lines. Staple together or punch holes and tie with yarn. Lesson 5 October 5, 2014 God Gives Us Families Stickers are a favorite activity with young children. Four of them complete the project for this lesson. Learners may stick them on the circles in any order. They should, however, be careful to get the pictures upright. Draw the book in the boy s hand by connecting dots. Provide crayons for coloring the picture. Lesson 6 October 12, 2014 God Gives Us Clothes Follow instructions printed on the back of the project. Lesson 7 October 19, 2014 God Gives Us Shelter Learners should think about the shape of the houses pictured to find matching shadows. They will enjoy drawing a picture of their own house on the back. Lesson 8 October 26, 2014 God Gives Us Food Help learners think beyond the grocery store to the origin of foods we eat. God knew in the beginning that boys and girls needed milk to drink, apples to eat and all the other good foods He made. Praise those who correctly identify sources of food. Have learners color the page and add the stickers. Turn the page to the back. Invite the children to take turns identifying the foods for each lunch box. Let them tell you their favorite things to take in a lunch box.
Lesson 9 November 2, 2014 God Gives Us His Word Cut-and-paste activities are fun for most children. Provide child-safe scissors, glue sticks and construction paper to complete the project. Learners should cut out the tablets along the dotted lines. Fold the construction paper in half to make a folder. Open the folder for the learner to glue Duty to God commandments on the left side. That is the one with numbers 1, 2, 3 and 4 on it. Glue the Duty to People commandments on the right side of the folder. Now add the Duty to God and Duty to People stickers above the tablets of stone. On the front print the words God Gives Us His Word. Lesson 10 November 9, 2014 Josiah Finds God s Word Have a sample project finished but do not show it to the learners until they finish their own surprise picture. Have enough yellow, black and brown or tan crayons for everyone to use. By coloring spaces called for, they will see a scroll as King Josiah found and a Bible as we have today. Both are God s Word. Provide pencils for tracing the dotted word and for drawing dot-to-dot on the back. Add the open Bible sticker to complete the project. Whose book is the Bible? Are the boy and girl saying the words of the memory verse? Lesson 11 November 16, 2014 Jesus Reads God s Word Provide crayons for learners to color the picture. Provide enough scissors for everyone to have a pair. Trim around the outer margin before cutting apart the puzzle pieces. Rearrange the picture strips on the blank page in the back of this book to form a picture of Jesus. Glue them in place. Lesson 12 November 23, 2014 Timothy Learns God s Word Put together and display on the wall a sample growth chart the learners will make. Plan for a measuring time to record each child s height. Cut out the chart sections before class time. On the back, sign the letter to parents. In class, glue two sections together and add stickers in the spaces that match their shapes. Read the verses printed on the chart. Lesson 13 November 30, 2014 Paul Teaches God s Word The life application of this lesson is illustrated in the project picture. God wants us to listen to those who teach us His Word and be obedient to His rules. Ask, Who sees some children who are being good listeners? Let someone point to them. Who sees someone giving money? Use similar questions about other actions shown. Have the children remove the chalkboard sticker to add as you repeat the words on it to each child. Provide watercolor marking pens to color the verse motto on the back and add sticker. Award Certificate Use a calligraphy pen to letter the award certificate for class members. Let learners add the boy and girl sticker. Brag on all the children for learning about God s gifts with you. Add perfect attendance sticker for those who have not missed a Sunday. 4 s and 5 s Make and Take produced by WRITTEN BY: Jeanie Cash, Deitra Reed Revised by: Louise Battles EDITOR IN CHIEF: Larry E.
