Optimism Each day as we are faced with the challenges that overwhelm us, I m glad I am an optimistic person. Being optimistic means starting each day anew with a smile on your face. Being optimistic is taking a positive approach to daily challenges. Optimism is like laughter, it helps us through tough and difficult situations. Being optimistic means I am confident that I can perform and learn to solve any kind of problem I am faced with. Being optimistic provides the drive and determination that is needed to succeed. Sometimes being optimistic is unrealistic but I would always prefer to focus on the positive aspects instead of the negative. It was the best of times, it was the worst of times is a quote from the beginning of Charles Dickens book, A Tale of Two Cities. Depending on what you focus on, your perception can be positive or negative and every situation has both attributes. Depending on your life experiences, situations can be stressful or something that can be dealt with and conquered. I am optimistic that ASWA members will step forward and take on new challenges that the Denver chapter needs. Why not be optimistic, you have nothing to lose. Barbara Tedesko Secretary 4
