Pushing Creativity with Oil Pastels GEORGE BRUCE THURSDAY MORNINGS 9:30-NOON Are you in a Creative Rut? Join us in a mixed media class with emphasis on exploring new avenues of creativity using Oil Pastels. We will push your artistic talents to experimenting in a mixture of watercolor, acrylic ink, modeling paste and oil pastels on interesting stocks. You will create exciting pieces whether you prefer objective or non-objective art. We will focus on good composition and originality with a group discussion at the end of each class. Personal assistance will be provided., demos as necessary or as requested. b. i. SU BRUC 1 B. July 14, 21, 28, Aug. 4 C. Aug. 11, 18, 25, Sep. 1 Pastel Painting-Three Basic Steps CAROL ZACK FRIDAY AFTERNOONS 12:30-3:00 PM *note time change Use Pastel to create vibrant paintings using three basic steps: 1. Learn to create an under painting. 2. Develop shapes and Values in the painting. 3. Focus on the edges and color to finish up the painting. There have been some relatively new advances in recent years in pastel painting, along with improved painting surfaces and better ways to frame and protect your finished pastel paintings. Whether you are a soft or oil pastel painter (either type will work for this class) come join us for a couple of hours each week to polish your skills, or to learn how to actually paint with pastel for the first time. Be sure to check out the supply list for this class because not all types or brands of pastels will work. The techniques presented in this class require either artist grade soft or oil pastels. Working with these special pastels makes painting more desirable for the artist and collector. This is a great class for all skill levels. The immediacy of pastel s application and its forgiving nature makes working with this medium fun and spontaneous, but also allows for luminous and atmospheric paintings. Knowing how to draw is always helpful, but not required for this class. Supply list available online or at the front desk. b.i.a. SU ZACK 1 B. July 15, 22, 29, Aug. 5 C.
