We have one or two shows every year which are dedicated to transparent watercolor. We also have an INTERNATIONAL SHOW OF TRANSPARENT WATERCOLOR every three years, and a WATERMEDIA show every two to three years. THIS EXHIBITION OF WATER MEDIA PAINTINGS, HELD THIS YEAR AT THE CARNEGIE ART CENTER, PROVIDES AN OPPORTUNITY FOR OUR MEMBERS, and soon to be members, WHO ARE WORKING IN TRANSPARENT WATERCOLOR AND EXPERIMENTING WITH OTHER WATER MEDIA TO SHOW US ALL WHAT IS POSSIBLE; TO BROADEN OUR APPRECIATION OF WATERMEDIA ON PAPER. Awards: Cash Prizes totaling over $1600 are awarded; the Award for First Place being $500. Exhibition Juror and Awards Judge, Pat Dews Pat Dews has been painting for as long as she can remember. A graduate of NYC, Fashion Institute of Technology, she honed some of her skills in the fashion and advertising industry. But it was after taking a workshop with Nicolas Reale that Pat found her true voice, and she has been paying it forward with

memorable workshops of her own ever since. For Pat design is everything as she creates experimental works in watermedia on paper and canvas. The design elements: shape, texture, line, space, value and color translate what she sees in nature. Being an intuitive painter, she delights in showing students how they also can transform realistic imagery into well composed abstractions. She has received awards worldwide, among them: Placing second in the 33rd Annual Artist s Magazine Abstract/Experimental category, being the recipient of the Mary Bryan Memorial Medal at the 150th American Watercolor Society Exhibition, and receiving The China Zou Yinong Silver Award at the China/NWS Small Image Exhibition.
