APRIL 2019 Program Guide SUN APRIL 14 8PM 316-838-3090 kpts.org tv8@kpts.org

Thursday, April 4 @ 9PM This documentary follows the annual Chincoteague wild pony swim and auction, as well as one teenager s journey to buy her first foal. Sabrina Dobbins, a teenager who has struggled with depression, is attending the auction to find a pony to help with her recovery. Her dream of owning one of the wild Chincoteague ponies is being realized by a local nonprofit that helps deserving children. Tuesday, April 2 @ 8PM Award-winning filmmaker Ken Burns, tells the story of the five black and Latino teenagers from Harlem who were wrongly convicted of raping a white woman in New York City s Central Park in 1989. Season 3 Starts Sunday, April 7 @ 9PM When a 16-year-old girl s remains are discovered, Cassie and Sunny work to track down the killer. The investigation leads to a tight-knit group of four old school friends whose bonds are put to the test when they find themselves under suspicion. SUNDAY NIGHT DRAMA Sneak Peek April 2 @ 6PM Learn More @ kpts.org New Six-Part Miniseries Begins Sunday, April 14 @ 8PM Victor Hugo s masterpiece comes to television in a six-part adaptation by multi award-winning screenwriter Andrew Davies. Dominic West stars as fugitive Jean Valjean, with David Oyelowo as his pursuer Inspector Javert and Lily Collins as the luckless single mother Fantine. Ellie Bamber and Josh O'Connor costar as the young lovers Cosette and Marius. Love, death and the struggle for social justice in early 19th-century France feature in this beautifully faithful retelling of one of the world s most beloved stories. Tuesdays, April 9 & 16 @ 8PM Henry Louis Gates, Jr. presents the definitive history of the transformative years following the American Civil War, when the nation struggled to rebuild itself amidst profound loss, massive destruction and revolutionary social change.

Wednesday, April 10 @ 9PM Discover the forgotten story of the hole in the ozone layer and how the world came together to fix it. Hear from the scientists and politicians who persuaded Ronald Reagan and Margaret Thatcher to take action and solve the planetary problem. Six-Part Series Wednesdays @ 9PM Starting April 17 Take a mind-blowing journey through human history, told through six iconic objects that modern people take for granted, and see how science, invention and technology built on one another to change everything. Friday, April 26 @ 9PM Ride alongside art curators as they embark on a road trip to 1,000 destinations across America to investigate what's happening in art today. Tuesday, April 23 @ 7PM The history of business and entrepreneurship lies at the heart of the American story, but often absent from that narrative are the experiences of African Americans. From the country s earliest days, African Americans have embodied the qualities of innovation, risk-taking and determination to forge a path toward a better life. Boss: The Black Experience in Business, by Peabody and Emmy Award-winning filmmaker Stanley Nelson, traces the lives of African American entrepreneurs over 150 years, from those bound by bondage to moguls at the top of million-dollar empires. More Than 1,000 Hours Of PBS Programs On Demand kpts.org Monday - Wednesday, April 29 - May 1 @ 7PM Spring is a symphony in green, a time of renewed energy, an awakening. For both plants and animals, age-old survival strategies are on full display at this time of year and intimate relationships are laid bare. The transformations wrought by this season can be sudden and dramatic like epic migrations that culminate in dazzling displays. Or like the seduction of a bumblebee by a blossom they can be intimate and barely perceptible. Monday, April 29 @ 8PM Combining state-of-the-art technology and including the trademark Pink Floyd arch and circle lighting design, Brit Floyd creates a performance that is as sonically perfect as it is visually awesome. Tune in tonight for your chance at tickets to see Brit Floyd live at the Orpheum Theatre in Wichita on Friday, June 7!
