Micki reminded guild members of Jane's award winning quilts and generous helpfulness to the Guild. Sharon Kapple, Vice President, informed guild members that the programs will be exchanged for June and August. The June 27 meeting will be at the United Church in Los Alamos at 7:00 PM. The speaker will be Albert Marchetti He will share his knowledge of care and repair of quilts with a special emphasis on older quilts. He may be able to evaluate those grandmother or great grandmother quilts you have been saving. Sharon needs your questions for Albert to address as a kick off to the evening. The students from the class that Donna Smith taught using Heather Thomas's book, A Fiber Artist's Guide to Color & Design will present their projects constructed during the 10 month class at the August 22 meeting in White Rock. Sharon also had sign-up sheets for UFO challenge, Donna Smith's Thread Painting class and Donna's Trapunto class. Donna had panels for sale for those that might want to attend the workshops Treasurer Donna Smith stated that the balance in our account was in the newsletter. Flo Carr mentioned that she has a friend who was looking for a quilter to make a baby quilt. Contact Flo, if you are interested. Charlene McHale, Publicity, is working on articles for the Monitor and the LA Daily Post with pictures to encourage interested quilters to join our Guild.

Brenda E. text stated that we need a name for our show that is scheduled for September 22-23 with set up on the 21st. Michelle DeBardeleben, Raffle Quilt, stated that we sold $103.00 worth of tickets at the Arts and Craft Fair. She has tickets and pictures of the quilt for Guild members wanting to sell tickets to friends and family. Nicole Dunn has a quilt at Fuller Lodge Art Center in the current show. Fran Suchocki had a simple quilting tip for the charity quilts we make. Also thanks to the Tuesday Library Cluster for helping to layer and pin the quilts that Sharon Kapple brought from the Sewa-Thon of 2016. During the show and tell portion of our meeting, Carolyn Mangeng showed a quilt she made for her granddaughter and Donna Smith showed her color class luminosity project. Deb McLin showed a quilt she made for her granddaughter. Laura Erickson showed a new baby quilt she made and a wall hanging she made for her nephew's high school graduation. Micki Taylor showed us 7 quilt tops she was able to construct while on a three week trip through Oregon and a quilt retreat at Ghost Ranch. Fran Suchocki finished a charity quilt with a clever quilting motif that was simple yet attractive. Treasurer s Report - Donna Smith The LANB Checking account balance on June 1, 2017 was $14762.66. The NM Gross Receipts Tax form for Jan - June has been filed. Community Service Flo Carr A notice for all you hand quilters out there! A local woman is hoping to sell a full size quilting frame with stands, carrying case, and bags (for the stands?) for a really good price. She is down-sizing and would like the quilt frame to go to a good home. If you're interested, please contact Christeanne at 505-412-3515 (home), 505-667-1030 (work), or email her at christeanne@msn.com. Publicity Charlene McHale The article about the guild was in the LA Daily Post on May 30 or 31 on-line version. It was not in the printed version. You can get to it by going to ladailypost.com On the right side is a search button. Put in Piecemakers and it should come up. The article was in the Los Alamos Monitor Diversions section on June 7. They used a different pic that they had from a previous article. *All current events are listed on the Calendar of Events above. Quilt Show Chair Brenda Blea-Edeskuty LOS ALAMOS PIECEMAKERS QUILT SHOW 2017 Here s the SCOOP Due to venue scheduling conflicts, this year s quilt show will be one week earlier than normal, therefore, we are considering moving the Sept meeting up one week as we conduct a lot of Show business that meeting. We are in the process of confirming Church availability. Will keep you posted on possible date change. Participate in the contest to name the quilt Show and win $25! To enter send your submission to Show Quilt Chair, Brenda Edeskuty, at edeskuty@zianet.com; 575-829-3889; or in person at the beginning of the June meeting. Names will be voted on at the June meeting. THIS IS A TRIPLE DECKER Request! We need to quickly fill chair positions for our quilt show as Sept will be here before we know it. Our quilt show is a huge undertaking and we rely on many volunteers especially our Chairs, so please consider volunteering for the following Chair positions: 1. Silent Auction: Charlene McHale has volunteered to chair this position once more, and Zena has agreed to help (THANKS!). 2. Staffing: this volunteer recruits/signs-up members to assist with various show jobs. It includes developing a schedule; recruiting volunteers at meetings or by phoning individuals to close any scheduling gaps. 3. Quilt Submission Chair: The responsibilities include managing/providing required forms/deadlines for show; tracking number of submissions by category/size; organize intake/return of submitted items, and prior to show provide Show Chair with expected number of items by category/size (this will help determine number of and space required for frames) 4. Door Prizes: This position includes soliciting/collecting door prizes to be given out the 2 days of the show, and organizing the issuance of the door prizes 5. Frame Chair: This individual will arrange for the pick-up/return of the frames from the storage unit to the church and help organize assembly/set-up of the frames. 6. Vendor Chair: I have already sent out the vendor contracts and we already have 3 outside vendors (Bob s, Ryans, SF Sewing Ctr), but if someone would like to take over tracking the vendors/contracts and placement of vendor booths based on requirements that would be terrific! Last but not least let s challenge ourselves and submit at least one item for the show! I know with your participation, talent and skill we will have another impressive show! Again, please consider volunteering! Thanks, Quiltinista (AKA Brenda) Silent Auction Chair - Charlene McHale I have 5 items for the silent auction and need more. If you have something you would like to donate, please let me know. I will have forms at the August meeting or you can bring it to the show when we are setting up on Sept. 21. Donation Quilt Michelle DeBardeleben

I will not be at the June meeting. If you need tickets for the donation quilt, please contact me.
