ASSOCIATE MEMBERS ARE ELIGIBLE FOR ACCUMULATIVE MILEAGE ROSETTES AND THE ASSOCIATE MEMBER TROPHY. IN ORDER TO BE ELIGIBLE FOR DURHAM & TEESSIDE GROUP TROPHIES YOU MUST BE A FULL MEMBER OF DURHAM & TEESSIDE GROUP. GENERAL RULES. 1. Damaged or defaced cards i.e. Unreadable cards will not be accepted. 2. Ride distance will only be awarded on advertised distance e.g. If a 10km and a rider completes it twice for training purposes only 10km will count towards trophies etc. 3. When a choice of distance is offered at a pleasure/training ride it is possible to drop in distance, however, a rider can only claim the downgraded distance, (the distance that was actually ridden). Moving up to a higher distance is not allowed. No change in distance is permitted once started. 4. All ages (horse and rider) are deemed to change as of January 1st as per the National rules. 5. Km will count for cumulative distance rosettes only up to the vetting before the vet gate where the horse was vetted out e.g. 160km ride horse passes vet at 80km but fails at 120km therefore only 80km will count for your cumulative distance rosette but nothing for any trophies. 6. Photocopies of friends cards will not even be considered. 7. Competitive Riders to send a photocopy of their Master Card along with their Durham and Teesside Group Card, Please ensure that ALL rides are signed for on BOTH cards. 8. Trophy Secretary must be informed if during the year, you change your membership status, or you, or your horse change or upgrade the riding category. It is the responsibility of the individual to ensure that the correct details are held for you on a yearly basis. 9. Awards are allocated from the date you/your horse/pony become eligible and will not be backdated. This includes the date that you joined or renewed your membership. Rides completed before this will not be counted. 10. Group Trophies are held for one year and returned PRIOR TO THE GAM in good condition. 11. Durham & Teesside Group of EGB adhere to National's request regarding trophy distance/ points relating to SERC rides. 60% or more of the total distance/points must have been achieved in EGB rides. This rule applies to both competitive and pleasure rides. Durham and Teesside Group of EGB 1
12. Only full members of Durham & Teesside Group of EGB are eligible to receive group trophies with the exception of The Associate Member Trophy. Full members of other EGB groups are eligible to enter the Pairs Award when paired with a full member of Durham & Teesside Group. Some awards/trophies/rosettes are horse /pony specific. Accreditation will only be given when a horse/pony is ridden by a Full member. This applies to all awards. Horses/ponies ridden by Non Members will not receive Group mileage.. 13. Children ONLY who are members of Pony Club can claim mileage achieved at Pony Club events. Accompanying adults are NOT included in this arrangement as per National agreement. 14. In the event of a joint first place, recipients will receive their own first place rosette but will be required to come to a mutual arrangement to share the trophy. 15. As of January2013, all members, both full and associate, will in order to be eligible for Durham & Teesside Group Trophies and Accumulative Distance Rosettes be required to volunteer to help at a ride at least once in a season. Failure to do so will result in that member being excluded from claiming trophies and accumulative distance rosettes for that year. 16. Ride Organisers who are actively riding themselves during a season and are therefore unable to participate in a ride due to them organising the ride, and being required to be at the venue for the duration of the ride, will be allowed to claim a distance for that ride which they run. THIS WILL BE CAPPED AT 40k and applies to both Pleasure Rides AND Competitive Rides. Where a choice of distance is offered, the Ride Organiser will be allowed to claim the highest distance offered, (MAXIMUM 40k), but not all distances. Only ONE specific named Ride Organiser will be eligible to claim the distance. IT WILL NOT BE AWARDED TO ANYONE WHO ASSISTS. The Trophy Secretary, Karen Fairbairn will oversee this claim and sign the Durham & Teesside Group Distance Card. UNSIGNED CARDS WILL NOT ACCRUE THE DISTANCE. The distance will be counted towards Durham & Teesside Group Accumulative Distance Rosettes and any trophy which is based on distance, (km), only. With the exception of The Jasper Salver it will not count for any trophy which is awarded on points, or a combination of distance, (km), and points. RIDE ORGANISERS WILL NOT BE ALLOWED TO MAKE A CLAIM IN THE EVENT OF A RIDE BEING CANCELLED. DURHAM & TEESSIDE RULES ARE IN ADDITION TO THOSE OF NATIONAL ENDURANCE G.B. ALL MEMBERS ARE ADVISED TO KEEP A PHOTOCOPY OF THEIR GROUP DISTANCE CARDS, COMPETITIVE MASTERCARDS AND VET SHEETS. GROUP DISTANCE CARDS WILL BE RETURNED AT THE BAM OR POSTED ON RECEIPT OF AN SAE. Individual Trophy Awarded to the Rider/Horse/Pony on successful completion of their:- First 65k Ride in a day First 80k Ride in a day First 120k Ride in a day You will have to claim these awards by sending in a copy of the relevant vet sheet to the Trophy Secretary. Individual Award Awarded to the Rider/Horse/Pony on successful upgrade from Novice to Open and/or Open to Advanced. You will have to claim these awards by sending a copy of the relevant upgraded Mastercard, or any relevant upgrade document received from National to the Trophy Secretary. Distance Rosettes These are awarded for horses/ponies completing 200, 400, 600 km etc. up to 1600 km, then in increments of 400 km up to and including 4,000 km, after which the increments revert back to 200 km. A small trophy will be awarded in place of a rosette for horses completing 1,000. 2,000. 3,200. 4,000 km etc. Distance is recorded from any EGB organised ride on a cumulative year to year basis. Durham & Teesside Group Committee reserves the right to add to and/ or amend any rule regarding The Trophy Rules at its discretion. Highest Overall Distance Awarded to the horse/pony with the highest km in any type of ride. Highest Non Competitive Distance Awarded to the horse/pony with the highest overall non competitive km. High Point Awarded to the horse/pony with the highest number of EGB points from all types of competitive rides. Advanced Graded Ride Trophy Awarded to the Advanced horse/pony with the highest points in graded rides at Advanced level. Durham and Teesside Group of EGB 5
Acorn Trophy Awarded to the horse/pony completing the most km in graded rides (not novice) up to and including 60km. Any horse competing in any ride of 61km or more, (including multi day rides), is ineligible for the trophy. In the event of a tie on equal km then points will decide the winner. John Jamieson Trophy Donated by Alison Wanless in memory of a former Group Chair, John Jamieson Awarded to the Open horse/pony ridden by an adult rider, over 18 years, with the highest points in graded rides at Open level, including fast track novice horses. Novice Graded Ride Trophy Awarded to the Novice horse/pony with the highest points in graded rides in their first season of competition, following the "slow track" as per National rules, maximum 450km. Alf Smith Memorial Donated in memory of a local horseman. Awarded to the horse/pony and rider combination, both in their first season of long distance riding. Highest km, any type of ride to count. Veteran Horse Awarded to the horse/pony aged 18 years or over (1st January rule applies) with the highest km, any type of ride to count. Guisburn Barefoot Award Donated by Angela Shutt and Guisburn Arabians Awarded to the horse/pony completing the highest number of kilometres barefoot or in hoof boots. To qualify horses/ponies must be unshod on all four feet. Kilometres from all types of ride to count. Thoroughbred Trophy Donated by Sue Gamble For full or part bred thoroughbred horse/pony. Young Rider Awarded to the rider aged 14 to 21yrs. Km from any type of ride to count. Junior Rider Awarded to the rider aged 13 or under. Km from any type of ride to count. Whisper Trophy Awarded to the horse/pony and junior rider (aged under 14 years) combination who gains most km in pleasure rides. Pure Bred Native Awarded to the horse/pony correctly registered with any British Native Breed Society. Km from any type of ride to count. Non Arab Award Awarded to the horse/pony with no Arab breeding, gaining the highest number of points as per the National trophy points scheme. Senior Rider Awarded to the rider aged 50 years or over. Km from any type of ride to count. Frisky-Moors Trophy Donated by Ossie & Heather David Awarded to the horse/pony and junior/young rider (aged 8-21 years) combination with the highest points from graded rides. Jasper Trophy Donated by Susan & Trevor Clerk Awarded to horse/pony and rider gaining most points in Durham and Teesside group rides including the Northern Championship 80km ER. Pairs Award Awarded to a combination of two riders/horse/pony with the most km, both doing the same distance at a ride (but permissible to be in different divisions e.g. 1 advanced and 1 novice). One pair, rider/horse/pony combination must be a full member of the Durham and Teesside Group. Full Members of Durham & Teesside will be eligible only. Full Members are allowed to have a second riding partner but only when riding a second named horse. The Cob Cup Donated by Karen Fairbairn Awarded to the Cob horse/pony with the highest km from any type of ride. Cob in this instance defined as not registered or represented in any known breed society. Any Group Record Card marked as Unknown, Unregistered or Part bred will not be counted. Coloured Horse Award Donated by Karen Fairbairn For Piebald and Skewbald horse/pony. Awarded to the Piebald/Skewbald horse/pony with the highest km in any type of ride. Coloured as per Coloured Horse & Pony Society definition. A 'coloured' animal is black and white (piebald) or white and any other colour, e.g. bay, roan, chestnut (skewbald) with a patch of naturally occurring white coat. This white patch must be on the body above the level of the stifle or elbow, excluding face markings. Any white marking below this does not qualify. Manes and tails may also be white or have white in them. Appaloosa animals with belly markings do not qualify. If a horse or pony only has white markings on the head, legs and or mane or tail in isolation it cannot be considered as a skewbald or piebald. Bay Tobiano accepted. Spirit of Endurance Awarded to the individual/pair who the group feel has done the most for the sport of endurance throughout the year. These people need not be a Durham & Teesside member and could include ride organisers, helpers, crews or any other nominee. Nominations for this award to be sent in writing to reach the Trophy Secretary, Karen Fairbairn no later than the last Monday in October. Associate Member Trophy Awarded to the associate member with the highest km. Try before you Buy is not included. Durham and Teesside Group of EGB 13
Endurance Choice The Endurance Choice Trophy will be awarded to the horse/pony and rider combination who for whatever reason decide to compete at Novice Level Only throughout the season. It does not include any horse/ pony and rider combination in their first season of long distance riding at novice level nor does it include those following the Slow Track as per National rules for the Novice Graded Ride Trophy. Any combination competing in even one ride at Open or Advanced level will be ineligible for the award. Awarded for gaining the most km at Novice Level Only. In the event of a tie on equal km then points will decide the winner. Copy vet sheets are required and must be sent with your claim to the Trophy Secretary. Whitbridge Crystal Callista Award Donated by Sylvia Briggs and with Sylvia's permission named after her horse. Awarded to the FULL DURHAM & TEESSIDE MEMBER who achieves the 'BEST' result at THE DURHAM VALLEYS RIDE. Result initially on highest km. In the event of a tie on equal km, then highest points will be used. If still a tie, then heart rate followed by performance formula. Like all Durham & Teesside Group Trophies/ Awards this Award will be made on a yearly basis.
