METHOD STATEMENT FOR VERSIJACK PAVER AND BEARER SUPPORT PREPARED BY ELMICH PTE LTD VJ MStmt Ver2012(Jan) Page 1
METHOD STATEMENT VERSIJACK Paver and Bearer Support 1. Preparation of Installation Area Mark grid layout 1.1 Refer to shop drawings and mark grid layout 1.2 Ensure that fall is towards drainage outlet/s 1.3 Determine starting point and finished elevation according to project requirements 1.4 Mark finished elevation less timber deck or paver thickness around perimeter 1.5 Use a laser leveling device or other leveling tool VJ MStmt Ver2012(Jan) Page 2
2. Remove Shipping Tabs Remove shipping tab 2.1 Remove shipping tabs from Base and or Extender prior to installation 3. Adjust Pedastal to Correct Height Screw adjust pedestal to desired height 3.1 Screw connect combination of selected Base, Extender/s and Top together for desired height 3.2 Screw-adjust components to required height VJ MStmt Ver2012(Jan) Page 3
Lock down locking ring 3.3 Lock down all locking rings except where height restrictions do not permit their insertion Cut lobe with slit 3.4 Locking Rings stabilize Top, Extender/s and Base but add 7.5mm each to overall height. Cut U Lobe of locking ring and pull outwards to remove ring/s, if a lower minimum height is required. 4. Minor Height Adjustment Use neoprene shim for minor height adjustment Neoprene shim VJ MStmt Ver2012(Jan) Page 4
4.1 Use 1 or more neoprene shims for minor height adjustments or to compensate for minor irregularities in bearer or paver thickness. 4.2 Divide/cut Neoprene shim into quadrants, if necessary 5. Slope Correction Up Slope Arrow point up slope Angle Selector on Top Top Slope Corrector Up Slope Angle Selector on Base Slope Corrector Angle Selection Apertures 0-5% Base Slope Corrector Down Slope Angle Selection Notches 0-5% Down Slope Arrow point down slope 5.1 Use top or base slope corrector to compensate for slope on installation surface 5.2 Align yellow angle selector on Top with appropriate triangular aperture on Top Slope Corrector or align yellow angle selector on Base Slope Corrector with appropriate triangular notch on Base to achieve 1 to 5% slope correction 5.3 Use Base Slope Corrector for slope correction if finished paver height exceeds 500mm VJ MStmt Ver2012(Jan) Page 5
5.4 For Top Slope Corrector, position pedestal so that Up Slope Arrow on Top Slope Corrector point up slope 5.5 For Base Slope Corrector, position pedestal so that Down Slope Arrow on Base Flange point down slope. 6. Reference for Elevation (Large Paver Installation) 1 paver at random positions every 200 m2 6.1 One paver may be installed at the intended elevation onto 4 pedestals, at random positions for about every 200 m2, to serve as reference elevation for installation over large areas. 7. Check correct elevation and alignment Elevation marking Direct spot measurement Laser leveling device to check elevation Line guides VJ MStmt Ver2012(Jan) Page 6
6.1 Take direct spot measurement, use laser leveling device, automatic leveler, pre-installed reference pavers, line guides and/or markings individually or in combination to check correct elevation and alignment. 8. Spacer Tabs Spacer Tab Constant gap between pavers 8.1 Use Spacer Tabs to aid in alignment and maintain constant gap between pavers VJ MStmt Ver2012(Jan) Page 7
9. Bearer Holders Bearer holders secure joists in place Fasten joist to Bearer Holder Bearer Holder Rotate Bearer Holder to align with sides of joist 9.1 Use Bearer Holders to ensure that bearer/joist stay in place 9.2 Rotate Bearer Holder to align with bearer/joist 9.3 Fasten bearers/joist to Bearer Holder VJ MStmt Ver2012(Jan) Page 8
10. Against Walls and Curved Areas Break relevant tabs on Spacer Tab 10.1 Break relevant tabs on Spacer Tab 10.2 Do without Spacer Tabs 11. If Loads Exceed 0.5 Tonne per Pedestal 12.1 Screw down extenders to minimum height and lock down all Locking Rings 12. If height exceed 600mm 12.1 Stainless steel bracing wires may be inserted for added stability 13. If Additional Stability Required 13.1 In-fill centre core of pedestal with grouting or cement VJ MStmt Ver2012(Jan) Page 9
14. Disassembling Top,Base and Extenders Loosen Locking Ring Adjust Top upwards until Safety Catch & Release Hole align Align Safety Catch & Release Hole Insert pin into Release Hole to release Safety Catch 14.1 Loosen Locking Ring 14.2 To disassemble Top from Base, adjust Top upwards to its maximum extension till Safety Catch and Release Hole align 14.3 To disassemble Extender from Base adjust Extender upwards to its maximum extension till Safety Catch and Release Hole align 14.4 Insert Pin into Release Hole to release Safety Catch and unscrew Top completely from Base Adjust Extender upwards until Safety Catch & Release Hole align Align Safety Catch & Release Hole Insert pin into Release Hole to release Safety Catch VJ MStmt Ver2012(Jan) Page 10
