What is a Node? A group of National, 4ple helix, stakeholders -selected according to their background, expertise and experiencethat meet regularly in order to discuss and share their knowledge and experiences on a specific subject under the supervision of a facilitator The PROteuS National Nodes are considered as innovation ecosystems and they are organized as dynamic, purposive community (4ple helix) with strong relationships based on collaboration, trust, co-creation of value and sharing of complementary technologies or competencies

Why is a Cypriot Node essential? Geographical location - Easternmost state of the Mediterranean region (within EU) Most remote borders of Europe Highly sensitive region Existing infrastructure and stakeholders E.g. JRCC, Cyprus Port and Marine Police, Deputy Ministry of Shipping, DMFR, CPA, European border surveillance system (EUROSUR) Cross-Border Safe Port- Network project Few companies operate in the MS sector - opportunity to promote greater involvement of the private sector in the MS sector and stronger relations with the public sector

Design of the Cypriot Node Mapping process - Potential members identification: 58 Civil Society, 12.07% TYPOLOGY OF ACTORS Government/Public authorities, 17.24% Industry, 58.62% Academia, 12.07%

Design of the Cypriot Node Selection of 3 focus areas on the basis of the following criteria: Number of actors operating in the MS sectors according to the mapping exercise Capacity of the sector to meet the socio-economic & technological trends identified in the LR Global Marine Trends 2030 Report The current state of the sectors and their future prospects in Cyprus Maritime Security & Safety Marine Environment & Monitoring Fisheries Management Marine Environment Monitoring, 18.97% MS (MARITIME SURVEILLANCE) DOMAIN OF EXPERTISE Fisheries Management, 18.97% Maritime Security & Safety, 62.07%

Design of the Cypriot Node Efforts for legal establishment of the Node as a non-profit company limited by guarantee non-profit company limited by guarantee, accredited as a public equivalent government body This latter component, will allow the organization to directly absorb and manage European funds, but it entails the following restriction: 50% of the entity s Board of Directors should be appointed by a public authority. No membership fee

Design of the Cypriot Node The following services are to be provided by the Cypriot Node (and by the MED MS Cluster) during the project: Elaboration of 5 Business and Exploitation Plans Access to the MS Platform (marketplace, offer and demand matching service) 1 International Funding Opportunities Workshop (Spain) 2 Technical workshops / seminars / conferences focusing on latest development in Maritime Surveillance 1 Capacity building seminar Coaching in Business skills 2 International exchange events of MS experts ( Southern France, Greece) Exploration of market opportunities Support in International Trade & Funding Opportunities Enhancement of members capacities Promotion of Cooperation to enhance Internationalization

Design of the Cypriot Node The following services are to be provided by the Cypriot Node (and by the MED MS Cluster) after the end of the project: Dissemination / Communication (e.g. bi-monthly newsletters) Access to the MS Platform (marketplace, offer and demand matching service) Seminars on funding opportunities Technical workshops / seminars / conferences Training Mentoring & Consulting Internationalization activities (funding the participation in international conferences, workshops etc.) B2B / Networking events Exploration of market opportunities Support in International Trade & Funding Opportunities Enhancement of members capacities Promotion of Cooperation to enhance Internationalization
