Priority: Support the transition of students and young professionals into engineering careers Work with educational stakeholders to promote engineering as an inspiring career choice Provide a range of scholarships to support engineering students into education Promote role models and case studies of successful young engineers from diverse backgrounds Work with universities and employers to increase visibility on campus and successful transition into employment Structure services, communications and pricing to career stage (Professional Home for Life) Embed younger members in IET governance & volunteering Promote professional registration as achievable at an earlier career stage than currently perceived Support greater professionalism through technician-level qualifications KPI: The number of non-student/apprentice members below the age of 40 The number of newly registered members Working to engineer a better world 5

Priority: Engagement with professional development to ensure and demonstrate engineering competency Provide tools to support and monitor structured CPD (Career Manager) Focus activities around sectors so engineers can quickly identify relevance Inspire and inform new and experienced engineers and technologists with a range of events and lectures on cutting edge topics Develop comprehensive, structured and accessible learning solutions (the IET Academy) Encourage global networking and peer-peer sharing of information and ideas via online engineering communities Support the development and adoption of technical quality standards Encourage volunteering to provide ambassadors and utilise their skills and knowledge to deliver local activity Provide solutions for SMEs in developing their engineers knowledge & competence KPIs: The number of event attendees physical and virtual Working to engineer a better world 6

Priority: Deliver user-centric knowledge solutions for rapid access to relevant content and services Provide channels and support for authors to enhance quality and speed to publish Track emergent technologies and proactively commission relevant content & activity Maintain multiple channels, including provision of open access services Provide tools and resources to support digitally enabled communities for networking, content creation and to maximise knowledge sharing Focus on member, user and customer information needs and present information in a device-independent and user-centric way Seek to add value to published knowledge through application of indexing and semantic enrichment techniques (Inspec+) Use business models that encourage long-term engagement and are sustainable e.g. subscriptions Work with trusted institutional partners to achieve reach and economies of scale KPIs: The number of peer-reviewed papers published by the IET The impact of those papers on research (journal impact factors) Working to engineer a better world 7
