Mary Sleigh Making Book Structures for Embroiderers and Textile Artists During the workshop there will be an opportunity to explore and make different types of book structures. These are suitable for presenting or keeping embroideries and samples, or giving away as gifts. The aim of the workshop is to learn new skills and make a variety of book forms using fabric, stitch and simple book binding techniques. In learning to create book forms a range of materials and individual ideas will be encouraged, so that the finished items will be personal to the maker. Alex Waylett Fabric Bags & Purses An opportunity to spend a fabulous weekend designing and constructing your own contemporary 'pebble' clutch bag. On Saturday Alex will introduce you to an innovative quilting technique; a beautiful, highly textural fabric will be produced by combining an
array of colourful fabrics with free-motion embroidery. The following day will involve the construction of your fully lined bag utilising your pebble fabric. Materials will include your choice of antique brass or nickel frame and a re-usable template so you can continue creating beautiful bags at home! The weekend is suitable for all participants - beginners in free motion embroidery as well as the more experienced.
