IADC NEW INITIATIVES

WellSharp

WellSharp Well Control Training Features Role specific training and assessments Expanded emphasis on critical topics such as risk management, situational awareness, and barriers Electronically delivered standardized knowledge assessment which is independently proctored Standardized individual simulator skills assessments

WellSharp Database Provides a means to control global delivery of the knowledge assessment Gives IADC the ability to globally monitor in real time: ostudent performance oinstructor performance otraining provider performance operformance on test questions and identify training gaps ofeedback from student surveys

Other Benefits of IADC s WellSharp Database IADC s WellSharp question bank is secure, evergreen, and continuously reviewed by industry SMEs. Each student receives a different version of the test but covering the same learning objectives. Students receive immediate feedback including not only their grade but the topics upon which they need to improve, thereby promoting continuous development. IADC is able to see and communicate with providers about topics that need to be addressed based on student performance.

WellSharp Instructor Requirements WellSharp s instructor requirements are more comprehensive: Proctored Instructor Knowledge Exam with passing score-- 85%. Train-the-Trainer course (approved by IADC). Required teaching hours and/or field experience.

JIP Initiative A new Joint Industry Project (JIP) to establish an industry-wide BOP Reliability Database recently formalized the initial phase of work. The ultimate aim is to produce a single source of quality information on the performance of BOP systems. The JIP was initiated jointly by the International Association of Drilling Contractors (IADC) and the International Association of Oil and Gas Producers (IOGP). Participating companies include oil & gas producers, drilling contractors, and equipment manufacturers.

JIP Initiative The JIP has been designed as a unique collaborative program with the objective of gathering high quality, industry-wide, statistically significant data to improve the industry s approach to BOP maintenance and integrity management and to feed field experience back to designers

JIP Initiative Participants include the Group of 7, Ensco International Incorporated, Noble Drilling Services, Inc., Diamond Offshore Drilling, Inc., Transocean Offshore Deepwater Drilling, Inc., Seadrill America, Inc., Pacific Drilling Services, Inc., and Maersk Drilling USA, Inc. Also included are the three primary manufacturers and suppliers of BOP systems, Cameron, GE Oil & Gas, and National Oilwell Varco; and operators, including Anadarko, BP, Chevron, CNOOC/Nexen, Kosmos, Petrobras, Shell, Statoil, ExxonMobil and Total.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities (KSAs) The KSA competencies are IADC s answer to the need for globally accepted competency standards. Job roles are expanding. New technologies are constantly developed. Drilling environments are getting more challenging. By working together as an industry to develop and maintain KSA competencies, we can address challenges such as these and ensure the competence of our workforce. IADC s KSA competencies are available at no charge via the KSA database

Well Control Institute A step-change in well control incident prevention. Formally established in 2013, the Well Control Institute (WCI) brings together representatives from drilling industry stakeholders to develop the comprehensive solutions necessary to significantly improve human performance in well control worldwide. The WCI recognizes that well control is the industry s highest process safety challenge. With a belief that well control impacts, and is impacted by, every facet of the drilling industry and process, WCI ensures that operators, contractors, equipment manufacturers, regulators and service providers have the forum to collaborate on well control initiatives and work products for the industry. The WCI is a non-profit organization, registered in Houston, Texas, and Aberdeen, Scotland, with offices in both cities.
