This is the time of the year we reflect on everything we have and remember to be grateful. I hope everyone gets all the turkey you can stand and have a wonderful Christmas. Our last meeting of the year is fast approaching. Like last year we will be having a social/blanket and food drive at Kan Pai. This is not only a chance to get together with industry friends, but also an opportunity to give back. We will be accepting non-perishable food items and blankets to be given to Bakersfield Homeless Shelter, so everyone should bring something. Earlier in November we had our Fall Clay Shoot and Turkey Giveaway. This was the first year we held it in November, and the weather was perfect and lunch was great. I want to thank everyone who participated and came out. These events allow us to give out scholarships every year. Another way to support our scholarship fund and help yourself out as well is to advertise in the newsletter. Don t forget to renew your AADE memberships for 2018 also. Coming up in January we will be having our operator s forum. This is a great chance to hear from area producers about how they think 2018 will be for them. It is one of our most anticipated meetings of the year, so make sure you sign up early once the meeting is posted. Once again, I d like to thank all our members for your continued support and involvement. I hope 2018 will be a great year for our industry. I look forward with a positive attitude and am truly thankful for the things the oil industry has allowed me to do, for our organization, and for being able to represent you as your AADE President. Clayton Gossett CRC

November 2017 Page 2 LMOTM: Dennis Lovett After graduating from Northern Arizona University in 1975 with a Bachelor s of Science Degree in Business Administration I went to work for the Reed Tool Company. I started working in Ohio and eventually moving on to California with the Company. I worked in various positions with Reed including Regional Manager. In 1991 I moved on to Smith International. In 1995 Halliburton acquired 40% of Smith International and I became part of that acquisition. I left Halliburton in 2007 being the West Coast Business Development Manager at that time. Since that time I have been with Coso Operating Company as the Well Services Manager. In 1990 the West Coast Chapter of the AADE was formed. I was one of the original members and ended up on the Board as Secretary the first year. I was awarded the AADE Meritorious Service Award in 1999. Besides being on the AADE Board I was also the West Coast Chapter Representative for a number of years. With the leadership of Fred Holmes I was able to participate in spreading AADE technical information to Taft High School. Fred has done a number of great things for me over the years including having a retirement party for me when I retired from Halliburton, placing a plaque at the Bakersfield Oil Museum in my name, and awarding me the Ray Bradley/Tom Woodward Lifetime Achievement Award in from IOPA in 2007. Thanks so much Fred. I ve been very lucky within the industry receiving a Life Time Member Award from the API, the Lee McFarland Award from CIPA in 2003 and being the API Oil Barron in 1998. I have been married to Ann for 40 years now and have two children. My son Evan is now working in Michigan and my daughter Juliana is teaching Special Education at Highland High School here in Bakersfield. A big shout out to all my fellow Wildcatter s. See you at the HiJinks December 5 th for a great show at the Crystal Palace. I hope to see you all at many more AADE meetings for many years to come. Page 2
