ction on all Laguna guitars is factory-set to our exact specifications; however, some players prefer slightly higher or lower action, depending on playing style. lso, temperature changes and moisture can affect string height. The graphic and table below illustrates the action guide for your Laguna. he dual-action truss rods may need to be adjusted if you change string gauges, or if you lower or raise your standard tuning pitch below 440, as string tension changes can result in too much space between strings and frets (hard to play) or too little space (fret buzz). f your strings become dirty in appearance or produce a dull sound, replace them with new ones. In order to keep the proper tension on the neck, it is recommended that you change strings one at a time. Factory specified string gauges TOO TIGHT TOO LOOSE Models are shown in the chart below. If you replace with a different string gauge, a truss rod adjustment may be required. We recommend that a qualified guitar technician handle this procedure. If your instrument has a tremolo system, the tremolo may also need to be adjusted. See page 10 for full warranty information. To adjust, remove the truss rod cover and place a 4 mm hex wrench at the rod nut. djust as follows: Note: Turn the nut only in 1/8 to 1/4 increments, check action, and re-adjust if necessary. Clockwise: tightens the truss rod, causing an convex bow. Over-adjusting results in fret buzz and dead frets. Counter clockwise: loosens the truss rod, causing a concave bow. Maintenance Manual 7

LE122, LE222, LE300, LE322 and LE422 LE50, LE200 and LE200Q To change strings: Thread the new strings through the grommets located on the back of the guitar and bring them up over the saddle. Then, pull the strings up across the fretboard and thread through the tuning machines. String height at the bridge can be adjusted by raising or lowering the knurled nut underneath the bridge plate on the bass and treble side of the bridge. To change strings: Thread the new strings through the grommets located on the back of the guitar and bring them up over the saddle. Then, pull strings up across fretboard and thread through the tuning machines. String height at the bridge is adjusted by raising or lowering the allen screws on either side of each saddle. Note: Tremolo tension springs are located at the back of the guitar, under the cover plate. Remove the cover plate, and adjust the screws accordingly. When adjusted correctly, the tremolo should sit parallel to the guitar top. Maintenance Manual 8

LE400Q, LE524 and LE924 To change strings: Loosen the locking nut using a 3 mm hex wrench. One string at a time, loosen the hex screw at the base of the saddle to relax the small string holder pad. Install the new string by cutting the ball end off and placing in the saddle. Then tighten the hex screw until the holder pad is tight so the string will not slip out. Run the string up across the fretboard and string through the tuning machine. Tune string to pitch, then repeat for each additional string. It is common for strings to slip and stretch due to the increased tension of the locking trem system. When all strings have been replaced, stretch each string thoroughly, tighten the locking nut, and clip off any excess string above the tuner. Note: To fine tune strings after the nut and bridge have been locked, turn the bridge s fine tuning screws clockwise to raise pitch and counterclockwise to lower the pitch. L224 and L524 To change strings: Thread the new strings through the holes in the bottom of the bridge and pull them up over the saddle. Pull up across fretboard and string through tuning machines. String height at the bridge can be adjusted by raising or lowering the allen screws on either side of each saddle. ll coustics To change strings: Loosen the tension on your current strings. Then, using a string puller/peg winder, pull the bridge pins from the bridge and remove the strings. Place the new string in the bridge pin hole. Re-insert the bridge pin while pulling the string to remove any slack. Pull the string up across the fretboard and thread through the tuning machine. Hold the bridge pins in place for each string while tuning to pitch; this will eliminate the bridge pins being pulled out of place by string tension. Maintenance Manual 9

Locking Tuner Instructions for LE300 Your Laguna guitar may feature self-locking tuning machines. These machines allow the string to lock in place at the tuner, preventing slippage. Simply thread the string Self-Locking Tuner Instructions for LE322 and LE422 through the tuning machine. While tuning to pitch, the machine will lock the string into place. Some Laguna guitars feature our custom-design locking tuners. These will ensure tuning stability even during heavy tremolo use. Locking Knob 1. Turn counter-clockwise to loosen 2. Feed string through tuner cap When changing strings, simply loosen the locking mechanism on the rear of the tuner by turning counter-clockwise, slide the string through the tuner, and turn the locking mechanism clockwise to lock in place. 1. Rotate the tuner cap until the string hole opening lines up with the tuner shaft. 2. Make sure that the string rests in the proper slot in the nut and is beneath the string tree roller. 3. Turn clockwise to lock string 3. Push the string through the hole from the center of the headstock outward towards the key. 4. Turn the tuning key until the string is tuned to pitch. The tuner s internal mechanism will lock it into place. Maintenance Manual 10

ntonation is properly set when the 12th-fret fretted note and the 12th-fret harmonic are exactly the same pitch. This intonation is achieved by adjusting the saddle location on the bridge of electric guitars and basses. With the harmonic note as the standard, do the following: ickup height affects output level and sound quality, and can be adjusted to ensure uniform volume or, alternatively, to create a custom egular cleaning of your guitar is an important way to maintain the finish and extend string life. lways wipe down your instrument after playing to remove sweat, which contains acids that corrode strings and metal parts of the guitar. If the fretted note is flat (below the harmonic note), move saddle toward the headstock. If the fretted note is sharp (above the harmonic note), move saddle away from the headstock. 12F sound. Height can be adjusted using the small phillips-head screws found on the side of the each pickup. Gloss finishes should be polished with products designed specifically for music instruments, along with a soft, treated cloth or cotton rag (an old T-shirt works fine as well). Instruments with a non-gloss finish should be wiped with a dry cotton rag only. L aguna Lifetime Limited Warranty.
