PROGRAMME OUTLINE The Western Springs College - WAI FM Gateway programme is a fantastic introduction to professional radio broadcasting and audio production. The programme is designed and delivered by Commercial Radio consultant and professional broadcaster Doug Te Moni for exclusive use of the Western Springs College Gateway Department. The programme is conducted within the On-Air Studio and Digital Audio production studio of Western Springs College l.p.f.m radio station WAI FM. Students will be knowledgeable in ; Radio Industry key stakeholders RSM, BSA, ASA, TRN, RBA, Mediaworks. Commercial Radio Announcing. Audio Production Process. LPFM station operation. Learners will be able to demonstrate understanding and competency in the use of ; FM Broadcasting Console. Digital Audio production desk. Radio Automation Software. Digital Audio production editing software. Students will be able to ; Write, Voice, Produce a radio script. Host a live radio show. CYCLE 8 WEEKS SATURDAY MAY 28 TH - SATURDAY JULY 16 TH STUDENTS PER CYCLE 8 PROGRAMME LEVEL 3 CREDITS AVAILABLE 12 Delivery is through classroom, one on one and small group instruction. Delivery will employ auditory, visual and kinaesthetic learning styles. DELIVERY STYLE A variety of interactive teaching activities including subject specific handouts, tutorials, practical hands-on learning and one to one tuition will be used. LEARNING PATHWAYS This programme staircases into SAE- School of Audio Engineering, MAINZ - Music and Audio institute of New Zealand, NZRTS - New Zealand Radio Training School. This Gateway programme will equip learners with introductory written and oral communication skills, introductory audio production, voicing and announcing skills OUTCOME STATEMENT to enable entry into higher level study in the commercial radio, audio and music industry. Session Tasks: Individually operate the onair desk and on-air software to deliver a thirty second speed break and to format with competency LIVE on-air. Deliver a 30 second Speed break Live On-Air On-Air studio This is a Practical session in the on-air studio of and students must make their own notes.
