General Help Last revised: Winter 2015 Problem Solution When I try to print something on the computer, it appears to work, but nothing comes out of the printer. See the next item. When I try to print something on the computer, I get an error message saying Cannot acquire status or Printer disconnected. When I try to load paper into the printer, I get an error message saying Paper loaded askew. 1. Make sure that your printer is turned on (the transparent Online button on the printer should glow green). 2. Unplug the printer's USB cable. 3. Restart your computer. 4. Plug the USB cable in again. Refer to the How-To file for changing a roll of paper. In Step 4, you must make sure that the paper is flush against the black end cap. In Step 6, you must make sure that you feed the paper evenly and straight into the printer; if you feed it even slightly crooked, it may give you an error message. When I print a poster, lines show up in the image. 1. If you are using Standard paper, change the Print Quality in PosterArtist (Step 4, Print) to High. 2. If you are using Premium paper, change the Media Type in PosterArtist (Step 2, Paper Options) to Coated Paper. When I print my poster, it comes out too big or too small. I want to print a different sized poster. When I print my poster, there is extra white space along one edge. I want to print a poster that fills the whole page. In PosterArtist (Step 2, Paper Options) you can select the Page Size drop-down menu and change the size of your poster. The most common sizes are ISO A1 (23.4 x33.1 ), ISO A2 (16.5 x23.4 ), and ISO A3 (11.7 x16.5 ). To make a banner, use the blank template provided in the PSS: Banners template category. In PosterArtist (Step 2, Paper Options) you can check the box for Enlarged/Reduced Printing to make your poster larger or smaller. The default poster size when set to Fit Long Side To Roll Width will come out as a 24 x 17 poster, while Fit Short Side To Roll Width will produce a 34 x 24 poster (for Portrait oriented posters).

HOW-TO: Change ink cartridges on the >ĞĂƌŶ KŶ ĞŵĂŶĚΠϮ Ϭ Woster DĂŬĞƌ Last revised: tŝŷƚğƌ ϮϬϭϵ Step 1 Open the ink compartment on the left side of the printer.

Step 2 Lift up the blue plastic lid on the ink cartridge. This will eject the ink cartridge from the printer. Step 3 Grasp the ink cartridge with your fingers and pull it out it should easily slide out of the printer.

Step 4 Take the new ink cartridge and shake it very gently ten times. Then, unwrap the new ink cartridge. Step 5 Insert the ink cartridge into the empty slot in the printer. It should easily slide in. Gently press it down until you feel resistance.

Step 6 Grasp the blue plastic lid and press it down onto the ink catridge. You should hear a click as it secures into place. Step 7 Close the ink compartment. The printer will now recharge its print head with ink and / or clean itself. Note: this process may take a few minutes, so be patient. If a print job has been started, the printer will automatically resume when it is ready.

PAPER LOADING INSTRUCTIONS Before you begin: Cut the edge of the roll paper if it is uneven, dirty, or has tape residue. Otherwise, it may cause feeding problems and affect the printing quality. Be careful not to cut through any barcodes printed on the roll. Align the edges of the paper on both ends of the roll. This may cause feeding problems. If a feeding problem occurs, release the release lever and reload the roll paper. 1

1. Rotate the holder stopper lever (A) towards the lock icon to release the lock, and while holding it in position (B), remove holder stopper from the roll holder. 2. With leading edge of roll paper facing forward as shown, insert Roll Holder from right side of roll. Insert firmly until roll paper touches flange (A) of roll holder. 2

3. Insert holder stopper from left into roll holder as shown, and then while holding in position (B), push firmly until holder stopper flange (A) touches roll paper. Lock the holder stopper lever (C) by rotating it towards the lock icon. 4. Tap Load paper or Replace paper on the Home screen of the operation panel. Note: If the Home screen does not appear, tap the HOME button. 3

5. Tap Load roll paper. 6. Positioning your hands as shown, open the roll paper cover. 7. Holding the roll holder flange (A), rest the roll holder shaft on the roll holder resting ledge (B). At this time, position the holder as shown in the illustration so that the R label (C) on the roll holder flange is aligned with the R label (D) on the printer. 4

8. Holding the roll holder flange (A), guide the holder along the slide guides (b) on both ends, keeping the holder level as you load it in the roll holder slot. Caution: Do not force the roll holder into the printer with the right and left ends reversed. This may damage the printer and roll holder. Do not release the flanges until the holder is loaded in the roll holder slot. Be careful not to pinch your fingers between the slide guides (B) and the roll holder shaft (C) when loading rolls. 9. Insert the edge of the roll in the feed slot (A) and advance the roll until you hear the feed tone. 5

Important: If the roll paper has become unwound, remove the slack before loading the roll paper. Be careful not to soil the printing surface of roll paper as you insert it in the slot. This may affect the printing quality. We recommend wearing clean cloth gloves when handling rolls to protect the printing surface. If the paper is wrinkled or warped, straighten it out before loading it. Load the roll so that there is no gap between the right edge of the paper and the roll holder. Important: When selecting Enable in Keep media type, there is no need to specify the type of the paper. Cut the edge of the roll using the Cut paper function if the edge is creased or soiled. (See Specifying the Cutting Method for Rolls. ) When selecting the media type on the operation panel, make sure the media type set in the printer driver and the media type loaded on the printer match. 10. Holding it at the positions indicated, close the roll paper cover. 6
