Extent: 16 microfilm reels Provenance: The United States Holocaust Memorial Museum received the collection via the USHMM International Archives Project in Sep. 2005. Biographical/historical note: E.B.Loiter, together with S.M.Mihoels, founded the Moscow Jewish Theater School (MGETU) in 1930. The institution was renamed into the Moscow State Jewish Theatrical School at GOSET in 1932. From 1945 to 1948, the school was supervised by M.S.Belensky. The lectures were chosen from a number of highly skilled included A.V. Azarh, A.G. Vovsi, V.M. Zuskin, E.B. Loiter and S.M. Mikhoels. During 1947-1948, school trained 66 students. In addition to preparing actors, a department of drama study was incorporated into the structure of the school. This department was devoted to an account of the history of Jewish theatrical art. When the Moscow State Jewish Theatre (GOSET) was closed in 1949, the affiliated school ceased to exist simultaneously. Restrictions on access: No restrictions on access.
