Introduction - VIDEOTON Videoton is the largest Hungarian industrial group in local private ownership offering manufacturing and related services for industrial firms. On the one hand Videoton is a professional, regional, integrated Contract Manufacturing company being the 3rd most significant European EMS provider and 23rd largest globally. On the other hand Videoton, based on its own technologies, competencies, is a multi-commodity supplier of parts, sub-assemblies and modules in electronics, plastic injection moulding, stamping, machining, tooling, surface treatment and assembly. Videoton s 22 specialized medium sized subsidiaries can provide a complete solution to its business partners from Automotive Industry (38%), Household Appliances (24%), Industrial Electronics (23%) and Renewable Energy (5%). The services of our vertically integrated operations range from part manufacturing through final assembly to transportation or distribution of the manufactured products. In new product design projects we can support our customers with wide range of design and engineering services including the complete industrialization of new products.

Introduction Corporate Structure

Introduction We have been conducting development activity since 1997 first as the Development Department, then as the of Videoton Holding ZRt. In the beginning we designed automatic, and manual special purpose devices and equipment for special manufacturing technologies. The complexity of these equipment and devices ranged from manual workstations to complete automatic manufacturing lines. Thanks to the acquired knowledge base and the increase of our headcount, we expanded our area of activities and started to develop functional testers. Nowadays this is our main activity as the different level of automation and different level of complexity testing assignments make up the 80% of the undertook projects. Besides the design of unique equipment we are also conducting tender and product development assignments related to fundamental research. The areas where we have experience are the following: Automotive Industry, Household Appliances, Consumer Electronics, Industrial automation, Medical Equipment Development and Photo-acoustics.

Services Our main goal is to provide engineering services for customers of Videoton. Beside the design assignments related to manufacturing, we can also participate in the development of new products, primarily in the area of PCBA and mechanical design. We perform our tasks in project structure, in groups containing mechanical, automation, measurement and informatics engineers. There are several projects running parallel in the same time and their supervision is carried out by the Project Management using Microsoft Project 2003. In order to do more efficient work we set up documentary and change management systems for each specialties. In-depth price calculations, if demanded studies, are made with the active participation of the customers hereby assuring the optimal fit to the needs.

Engineering environment Currently more than 30 engineers are working in the. Our colleagues are conducting development activity on highperformance computers, in a nice environment. We believe trainings that ensure the up-to-date professional knowledge carry high importance. We have a well equipped laboratory, here we can assembly, carry out experiments and measurements. The production, implementation, mechanical and electrical assembly of the mechanical elements of the systems designed by us are performed by the VT Informatics Kft. under the supervision of our engineers. Special purpose machine development 1/2 Development of special purpose machines and process planning Our team features versatile technological knowledge and the up-to-date knowledge of market tools. Until now we have designed 8 complete manufacturing and assembly lines and 13 special purpose machines in diverse complexities. We have experience in the following areas: Design and implementation of diverse level of automation and size of manufacturing tools, work stations, and complete lines. Planning production processes of new products, based on customer needs and possibilities. Automation and modification of existing processes.

Special purpose equipment, tester development 1/4 Development of special purpose equipment and testers We are developing end testers and functional testers, used in automotive manufacturing processes. Until now we have designed and implemented 40 testers in diverse complexities. General construction of our equipment is that we perform the controlling functions with PLC, while the measuring tasks are performed with the application of NI products. We realize data collection, product tracking, human-machine interfacing and other communication assignments (printing, barcode readers, network handling) with high level software running on industrial computer. During measuring, own developed runtime environment provides modularity. Besides measuring electrical quantities, we have experience in the lighting examination of LEDs, but we also have references in camera controls and in the measurement of oscillation, vibration and mechanical parameters.

Special purpose equipment, tester development 2/4 Compact modular This is a system optimised for testing low volume, small sized products. Considering its construction, a 19 rack mounted basic machine contains the necessary elements (PC, supply units, elements of measuring, pneumatics, control, ). To this, through an industrial connection system, a unique measuring adaptor connected. This adaptor contains the product specific elements (artificial load, nail bed panel, switching-, actuating elements, ). A different adaptor can also be connected to a basic machine, therefore, for testing a new product only this adaptor is to be developed (in case of adequate similarity). We recommend this system for the testing of high mix product families.

Special purpose equipment, tester development 3/4 Standard modular This is a system optimised for the testing low and medium volume, high testing complexity products. Considering its construction, this system also has the same basic machine-measuring adaptor concept, but the basic machine provides the reception of higher number and size of adaptors. Here for example there is room to establish a higher automation level of waste handling or to use a larger printer. Size of the adaptors is larger as well, therefore it provides more room for possible measurements and examinations. Similarly to the compact modular system, the basic machine can receive multiple adaptors. Solution for storing and moving such adaptors is also available.

Special purpose equipment, tester development 4/4 Unique small, medium and large testers We can offer solutions on the basis of unique demands from small manual testers to automatic tester lines, optimized for size, price, implementation-, or cycle time.

Product development 1/4 Product development The developments related to photoacoustics and phototherapy were realized with the support of the National Office for Research and Technology and the Hungarian Economic Development Centre.

Product development 2/4 Phototherapeutic medical device for the treatment of hay fever and dermatological applications The Rhinolight is based on the phototherapeutic principle which was developed by the scientists of University of Szeged in 2001. Since then it made the life easier for thousands who suffer from hay fever. Product development 4/4 Product development experiences We have gained experience in electronic design, mainly in the area of microprocessor technology (e.g. 32-bit DSP). Product and manufacturing documents are made with high-level CAD software.

Warranty and Quality Our equipment is accompanied by detailed documentation, which contains the necessary certifications and information for the operation and maintenance of the equipment. We provide one-year full warranty and a 2-year designer warranty for the equipment designed by us. We guarantee the visit of your premises and the start of the repairs within 24 hours during the warranty period. If needed, we can provide servicing after the expiration of the warranty as well. Currently we can only provide warranty and servicing within Hungary Our equipment are provided with logo.
