Make a video with LU play Through LU play you can create different types of videos. You can record yourself using the web camera on your computer, you can record what s on your screen, or you can create an interactive video with chapters, where viewers can watch both you as a presenter and your powerpoint presentation at the same time. Install Capture Space You need to install a client - a small program called Capture space - the first time you create film for LU Play. You choose below if you have Mac or PC and install it according to the instructions from the client. The next time you choose Add New > Create Recording, CaptureSpace will open automatically. FIRST VIDEO INTRODUCE YOURSELF In this exercise, you will create a recording with only you in the picture, using your web camera. This can for example be suitable when you want to introduce yourself at the beginning of a course, in a series of video lectures. 1. Click Add New in the upper right corner, next to your name. 2. Choose Create a recording a software client will open the Kaltura CaptureSpace Desktop Recorder. If this is the first time you are it, you will need to do a quick installation (see p6). 3. To record yourself, choose WEBCAM in the lower left part of the CaptureSpace. 1

4. A countdown will appear before the recording will begin. You can pause anytime you want during the recording. Preview trim your video When you have finished your recording click Done. The video will be processed and then opened in a preview window. Here you can do some simple editing of your video. If you want to do more editing you can save the video and open it in a video editing software such as imovie. Trim: You can use this function to cut the beginning or end of your video. By clicking Trim handles will show up in the video time line, and you can drag them to where you want to cut in both ends. When done, click Apply in the lower right corner. Chop: With this function you can delete a part of the video. Click Chop and handles will show up in the video time line. Drag them towards each other and mark the area you want to delete. Click apply when done. Upload When you have clicked on the button Done a window for Upload options will open. Here you can name your video, write a description and add tags. Click on the upload button (an arrow) when you are done. Your video will also be saved on your own computer. 2

2. PRODUCE A QUIZ (BETA) You can create a so-called in-video quiz in any video. This is a multiple choice question that pops up as the video plays at the end of the video the student can submit their answers and you as a teacher can check answers via the analytics function. To create a quiz, pleas follow these steps. 1. Go to a Media page. (My Media > click on the thumbnail/name on any film). 2. Click on Actions beneath the movie > Choose Add quiz A Quiz Editor will open. Add questions to timeline start playing the video and pause (1) where you want a question to be added. Press the '+' button (2) to add a question and related answers. 3

Building the question and answers. The green field is for correct answers. You can shuffle the answers with the button in the upper left part. By clicking on the light bulb to the right you can add hints and explanations. Press Save when you are done. Quiz Analytics You can in analytics track who has answered and what they have answered. In order to reach the analytic section for your media, please follow these steps: 1. Go to your Quiz Movie Media page. (My Media > click on the thumbnail/name on any film). 2. Click on Actions beneath the movie: 4

3. Choose Analytics Here you will find a dashboard for your media where you can see how your students interacted with your video and your quiz. You can export your answers and open them in Excel. In analytics you can get an overview of the General Metrics (1) but you can also see each question and how your students answered in Quiz Questions (2). Within Quiz users (3) you can instead sort the data on students too see how they have managed. If you want your quiz to be anonymous you can share the video as unlisted, this way your students will not have to log in. 5

Where are my movies saved? Your created video is always saved locally on your computer. You will find a setting within the CaptureSpace client where you can change the folder to for instance the document folder that is backed up by your IT-department. When creating a video, go to the tab Settings (1). Click on the green button Browse to change where your movies are saved on your computer (2). Make sure that you leave the box next to Delete recording on disk after upload unchecked in order to back up your movies (3). 6
