José M. Bautista, Bautista LeRoy, LLC José M. Bautista is a partner at Bautista LeRoy LLC. While his current practice extends to different areas of tort litigation, José has represented families and individuals injured in railroad grade crossing collisions for most of his career. Before starting his own firm, he was an attorney with a renowned Kansas City law firm with a national practice in railroad litigation. Missouri Lawyer s Weekly has highlighted the results of José s work on several occasions, including his $3 million settlement of a private crossing collision case involving a local construction worker in 2005 and more recently a $751,537.14 judgment in a jailhouse suicide case. His articles on litigation have been published by the national plaintiffs attorney organization, the American Association for Justice (AAJ), where he served in 2010 as the Chair of the Railroad Law Section, the youngest in the Section s history. Since 2009, his peers have recognized him as a Rising Star and a Super Lawyer of the Kansas City legal community, and since 2010, the Kansas City Business Journal has named him Best of the Bar. This year, he is distinguished as Top 50: 2015 Kansas City Super Lawyers by the Missouri Lawyer s Weekly. José achieved his B.A. at Washington University in St. Louis and his J.D. at St. Louis University School of Law, where he was an editor of the Law Review. Prior to entering the private sector, he served as a prosecutor for the State Attorney s office in Madison County, Illinois and as a judicial clerk for the Honorable Michael W. Manners in Jackson County, Missouri. He is admitted to practice law in Illinois, Missouri, and Arkansas, the U.S. District Courts for the Western District of Missouri, Eastern and Western Districts of Arkansas, and District of Kansas, and the U.S. Court of Appeals, Fifth Circuit. He is also an active member of the Missouri Association of Trial Attorneys (MATA) and the Kansas City Metropolitan Bar Association (KCMBA), and the Past President of the Asian American Bar Association of Kansas City (AABAKC) José is proud to be in a position to help fellow Asian-Americans and other minorities. Born and raised in Makati, Philippines, he approaches the cases of his clients with a special respect for their culture, traditions and heritage. He is married to fellow attorney, Julie Oswald-Bautista.
Andrew S. LeRoy, Bautista LeRoy, LLC Andrew s practice concentrates on motor vehicle accidents, hunting accidents, sex abuse and nursing home negligence cases. Andrew enjoys fighting insurance companies, zealously advocating for his clients to get the most out of each insurance policy. Prior to becoming a partner with Bautista LeRoy, LLC. Andrew was a plaintiff s attorney for seven years handling complex product liability cases involving ATVs, Remington Model 700 rifles, tree stands and farming equipment. His products liability work has allowed him to develop a national practice handling cases in Alabama, Arizona, Florida, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Missouri, North Dakota, Pennsylvania, South Dakota and Tennessee. This experience has allowed Andrew to gain a greater understanding of how insurance companies operate around the United States. Andrew was born in Kansas City, Missouri. He received his B.S. in Journalism from the University of Kansas where he received the Outstanding Business Development/Marketing Award from the School of Journalism. He received his law degree in 2005 from the University of Missouri Kansas City. While in law school, Andrew was the Chief Honor Court Prosecutor and a Trial Advocacy Scholar. He is a member of the Order of Barristers, a national distinction given to only ten members of his graduating class recognizing excellence in legal advocacy. Andrew was recently recognized as KCMBA Young Lawyer of the Year in 2014. This award is given to a young attorney who exhibits significant community, civic and professional work through his/her practice. Andrew was also elected to the Missouri Fellows of the American Bar Foundation in 2014, a distinction awarded to only one percent of the state s attorneys for leadership and advocacy. When he is not fighting insurance companies, Andrew enjoys hiking and kayaking with his wife Gilly and their three children. Andrew volunteers his time at St. Peter s Catholic Church and School in Brookside. You can frequently find Andrew and his family enjoying everything Brookside has to offer young families.
